A Cake Bakes in Brooklyn
A Park Slope resident has taken it upon herself to bake 100 cakes from 1930s and 40s recipes - she says she thinks a lot of women expressed themselves creatively through baking during these decades when women didn't have much of a voice.
She also toyed with some wartime recipes - without much success. But it's interesting how something as normal as a cake recipe can be so historically telling.
