"Nice Area to Live - Stay Away From Third Avenue Side"

E. 135 St. is really a weird one. It has a strip from Locust Ave to Bruckner Blvd. But that section of E. 135th St. is not connected to the rest of 135th St. The Bruckner Expressway splits up the street. You would have to get on E. 133rd St. or E. 132nd St. in order to get to that short distance of E. 135th St.

That little section has a lot of commercial establishments. There is also construction going on in the area. As you go down E. 135th St. toward the Bruckner, you will dirty streets and boarded up buildings. There are also factories in the area. That is the end of the line here.

If you want to get on the other part of E. 135th St. you will need to turn right (this part of Bruckner is a one way only), and go down to E. 138th St. and turn left. Drive down to Cypress Ave and turn left. You can get to E. 135th St. from here.

The section from the Major Deegan is really nice. There are trees and flowers on the left hand side of the road. There are residential buildings on the right. As you proceed further down the street, and once you pass St. Anne Avenue, there will be a school on one side with a small playground.

There are actually two schools along this route. The area is quite nice though, with trees and shrubbery on the side next to the Major Deegan Expressway.

As you travel further up and pass Brown Pl., the area opens a bit and is so nice looking. There is also ramp that comes from the Major Deegan. This is a nice area to live in. As you travel down, you run into a small commercial zone, with small commercial buildings and a Mobil gas station at one corner. Despite some small pockets of filth, the place is pretty neat.

When you get past Willis Avenue, there is a lot of construction as they make a ramp from the Willis Avenue Bridge. There is also a school on the right hand side of the street. Once you get to 3rd Avenue, the road narrows and becomes very dirty. it also appears to be unsafe. The street eventually merges onto Park Avenue. From there Park Avenue takes over and continues.
Pros
  • A mixed bag
  • Gather places for people
  • Plenty of schools
Cons
  • Too busy at times
  • Very dirty
