"Don Pedro's is worth a visit"

Manhattan Ave is okay - I've seen plenty worse in the area. Only a few years ago this wasn't the safest place, but not people just think of it as another part of Williamsburg. This is probably because more run-down parts of the area - notably in Bushwick - are being gentrified, so this street doesn't seem so bad anymore. I wouldn't say that this is a dangerous area, but there isn't much on it besides Don Pedro's (a wonderful music venue that doubles as a bar and cocina latina) and the local Food Bazaar (probably the best grocery store in the vicinity south of Key Food on Grand).
Pros
  • Don Pedro's music scene
  • Food Baazar grocery
Cons
  • street in Bushwick is not the safest

"The center of Greenpoint"

Manhattan Ave is the shopping center of Greenpoint. Filled with shops of all kinds, from grocery stores to perfume shops to clothing boutiques it is the busisest street in the neighborhood. It runs all the way through to Williamsburg and it is just as interesting there. It is a great place for going out and having fun at one of the restuarants or bars or shopping for just about anything you need. There are all kinds of stores there where you can buy anything you need (no car dealerships).

"great shopping area!"

Manhattan Avenue has some awesome shopping and restaurants. It is very crowded, however, it is still a nice place to go for dinner and shopping.

"Must visit in Brooklyn!!"

My favorite part of visiting Brooklyn was touring the fun Manhanattan Ave!! My husband and I are in our late 20's so we loved shopping around and checking out all of the eateries. I couldn't believe how nice and new this place was. There were many condos & apartments up for rent and lese which I found hard to believe as the street was packed with people! Looks like it would be a blast at night.

"On Manhattan Avenue"

Manhattan Avenue is filled with several small shops and unique restaurants and has a nice vibe about it. The street was lively and filled with people, and was very much a street for the residents of the neighborhood. This whole area was filled with wonderful little things, and is really worth visiting if you’re thinking of moving to Brooklyn. It’s very well connected with the subway located nearby at Greenpoint Avenue. All in all, this is a wonderful street and is really very much the picture perfect example of why living in the boroughs is sometimes nicer than living in the heart of New York.
You can still be in Manhattan in Brooklyn!

"Shoppers dominate this place"

Shopping is the extensive activity on Manhattan Avenue. The street runs through Green point in Brooklyn. The street is mostly covered with locals who come here for shopping purposes. Along Manhattan Avenue, major part is covered with skyscrapers and offices. The IND cross town station is a popular mode of transport here and supplementary to it local buses and cabs are also available. You can get any product at a cheaper rate if you’re good at bargaining. Discounts are available throughout the year.

"Convieniently near trains"

Manhattan Avenue is a very convenient street when it comes to train stations. There are quite a few of them in the vicinity, some directly on the ave, some with in a block or two. It runs from Broadway up to Newtown creek, which you have to cross over Pulaski Bridge which is on the next parallel street over, McGuiness Blvd and that takes you into Queens.

"Good street for entertainment and dining out in a rapidly changing neighborhood."

Manhattan Ave runs through the Greenpoint/Williamsburg neighborhoods, which traditionally have been inhabited by many Easter European immigrants and artists, but are increasingly shifting to more yuppie inhabitants. This is driving up the rents, but makes for an interesting vibe for the street. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from here. The neighborhood is safe, but this is a busy street with quite a bit of traffic.

"Greenpoint Williamsburg Yuppiesville"

At the crossing point of Williamsburg and Green point Manhattan avenue runs past lovely mccarren park which has been recently overwrought with giant overprice condos that glare over the grass. Mccarren pool is home to many concerts has sadly been taken over by clearchannel. Enids is a hip joint to frequent. Lots of bars and young folk in the neighborhood.
