Deadly storm

The New York City Parks department is warning people to avoid public parks after a 56 year old man was killed by a snow laden branch in Central Park earlier today-http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/02/25/person-killed-by-falling-tree-in-central-park/.
Why would anybody want to go out for a walk today ? I guess if you have to walk your dog then perhaps its necessary but other than that why venture out unless you have to go to work/school. Not the day for a casual walk in the park for sure.

That's terrible! Today is definitely not a day to be out and about. The snow is ferocious; it actually hurts when it hits you just on its own.

Another snow day in NYC, the snow is still falling today-Friday the 26th at 10am in the morning, the city has declared a snow day today and schools, colleges and the University in the city are closed.
In fact if you want to help the sanitation department clean up( DBlack if you are so inclined and need another a workout) you can actually call 311 and offer your services and you will be paid for your effort!

Oh, yeah, I just heard about that. What lousy luck getting hit by a tree!

@uptowngirl Yeah, I'm on my way out now to dig my car out of the snow. Let's see how that goes before I volunteer for more work.
