IF LA has the Oscars then NYC has the Met Costume Institute Gala

The annual Met Costume Institute Gala is NYC's glamorous night which attracts scores of celebrities who all truss up in their best. The event is almost as well scrutinized as Oscar night, alas there is no live TV broadcast of the red carpet arrivals. Last year the Gala inaugurated .. The Met's Model as a Muse exhibit and this year the event heralded the exhibit American Women: Fashioning a National Identity.

The exhibition, which will run from May 5, 2010 to August 15, 2010, will take a closer look at American women from 1890-1940 and their influences on our modern lives. The gala itself was a grand affair which was chaired by Oprah Winfrey, Patrick Robinson of The Gap and the grand dame of fashion Anna Wintour of Vogue.

E online has a slide show of the best/ worst dressed of the night.. do take a look and vote for your favorites ..
