Mayor Bloomberg gets it right this time

We have often dissed Mayor Bloomberg as being a rich man's mayor etc. However the NYC Mayor was in Hong Kong recently to attend a seminar on climate change and he had this to say about America's problems. I actually agree wholeheartedly with him. Have a look.

I really don't get why American hates China so much. Maybe like Bloomberg said, I do not read enough about foreign countries, nor do I understand their cultures, or anything else, except from what others tell me. I do not agree to globalization, but there is nothing I can do to stop it. I just have to embrace it and come up with a viable way to beat the competition. The best thing that all Americans can do is learn about other countries including their culture, language, economy, and laws. It may help us better deal with them in financial terms.

I think it's fair to be wary of an economic competitor, especially with such opposing political ideals and a shaky human rights record. But being wary of China's government and being wary of China itself are certainly two different things.

We don't HATE China, we just have a problem with their obvious human rights violations, yo.

@ajadedidealist let's stop and think about this? who gave China Most Favored Nation status? We did in 1979 and it has been renewed every year since then. Almost everything we get in the USA today has a Made in China label, we have made them incredibly wealthy and an economic superpower and now we don't like that?sometimes I really wonder about US foreign policy.
