Music / Record Store

Now that Virgin is closed, where do you go to buy an actual CD? There are some things (Beatles) that aren't on iTunes.

Do people still do that, buy physical CDs? Aren't the Beatles the only ones who haven't gone digital?

I used to like to peruse the shelves at Other Music on 4th St and Lafayette, but these days I just like searching for vinyl - I can't keep myself from heading for Earwax on Bedford after doing some book and shoe shopping in the area. I think it's been years since I've spent money on an actual compact disc.

I don't think anyone really buys CD's anymore. But, I thought about the fact that there are no more record stores around when I wanted a particular Beatles song. Yeah, I think them and a few other oldies still haven't gone iTunes.

I don't think there are very many artists left holding out. I mean, iTunes is the way to make money these days - even Radiohead finally went digital; I almost died when I saw their catalog appear on Rhapsody one day.

I know AC/DC hasn't gone digital, but can't think of any other artist besides the Beatles.

Does anyone else remember how adamantly against MP3s that dude from Metallica was? Even they gave in eventually.

@Everybody: CD's are not really sold much, although you may find them in some old stores. They are mostly on DVD or other types of media. Ajadedidealist, why not check Netflix or "google" the music you are looking for and see if CDNow or Amazon sells it.

@hhusted I don't think it's difficult to find CDs, it's just that no one ever buys them anymore.

@BroadwayBK And I think the adamant dude from Metallica feels sheepish for all the hullaballoo he caused.

@Uraniumfish As he should - no one really knew then that music files were the wave of the future. That was before the iPod.
