Those answers are two years old. They changed the entrance to the fair and the trucks all come during the night. There are no
traffic jams.....I never took the alternate road, never needed to and I live right in the heart of Rhinebeck....the date of the fair
was 2017...ended last week.

I live right in the Village of Rhinebeck. The fair lasts 5 days and causes quite a bit of traffic, as do the other events at the fairgrounds. If you're asking because you are considering a move here, the answer becomes - you learn the alternative routes in and out of town and it's not that big a deal. It's more fun to be so close to these wonderful events and live in a village that benefits from the added revenue these types of events bring.

The Dutchess County Fair does make for a fair amount more traffic in Rhinebeck, though I'd hesitate to call it really bad. I've never gotten stuck in it, though after spending a few years stuck in NYC traffic, I have a somewhat skewed perception of bad traffic.

During our trips to the fair we've gotten stuck for a little while, but never for very long. However, we also make a point not to go during the super-busy times, like the weekend. I can see traffic through the village area getting pretty heavy during those times.
