What are the pros/ cons of Rosedale, Queens?

Moving from Marine Park in Brooklyn to Rosedale in a few months to my husband's grandmother's home. I don't know much about the neighborhood and am concerned about crime (from a post in 2013 about the crime rate increasing and a number of break-ins)
The crime rate appears to be low based on the demographics of the area. Is it not correct? Are there a number of break-ins and petty theft?

Rosedale is a war zone. Who would want to live there? If you're a gangbanger, you'll be right at home
