Fort Stockton Dr
"Art school and BBQ"
The Petit Salon & Art Gallery. The salon is an intimate art school with hands on instruction. The art in the gallery changes as it is by students and the instructor and are for sale too.
There are several small marks in the area to enjoy and at the end of the street is a nice bar b q on the corner of Goldfinch. It’s great basic BBQ food and popular. Very busy at lunch.
West Harbor Dr
"Sea port village and art gallery"
Whitt Krauss Objects Fine Art Gallery is fantastic. They have great art by many talented artists both big and small. Great for just enjoying the great art or to buy some too.
There is also Seaport Village which has a few shops and Harbor House sea food restaurant. The food is good but not great and the quality seems better some days than others. If you are picky about your sea food this isn’t the best place to go but it will do.
"A spot of art to enjoy"
Art Expressions is a nice little gallery with contemporary paintings. Many water colors. There are also some great framed photographs on display. The prices should you want to buy are not too bad either. The selection changes regularly and always features several artists. They regularly have special events and themes to their art shows.
"Old town and Plaza del Pasado"
Old town is a great place to take photos and just enjoy the view of some historic buildings and the feel of simpler times. the plaza has some nice art shops one especially stands out and deserves a visit. It features the art of RD Riccoboni who does wonderful paintings focusing on the area both old and new. There is also a nice wine place at the plaza that I enjoyed.
"Junipero Serra Museum and Presidio park"
The park is home to an old mission which houses the museum inside. The mission and tower can make some nice photos and views of the valley and ocean. You are also allowed up in the tower for photos with a view. The museum covers Native American history and the early European settlers. The museum has old items such as settlement tools, art and furniture. Some times they offer free tours.
Cabrillo Memorial Dr
"Cabrillo National Monument"
This is a great place to take photos or for artists to get inspiration, with subjects like the lighthouse and views of the bay and coast line. If you are into the little critters you will like to tidal pools and may see a sea lion or two in the surf sometimes. the museum costs a bit but is nice ahd provides some good information on the area.
Pan American Plz
"Japaese gardens and and air museum"
While not my usual choice of museum I do like on occasion to see all vehicles and the air and Space museum as lots of old planes to look at. It's more of a one time visit place for me except that it's near the Japanese Friendship gardens and is worth a look now and then if you are in the area. The cover the history of flight by mankind. The gift shop has a few interesting items as well.
the friendship gardens are fairly small but there is a lot of wild land you may enjoy as well. There are cherry trees as well as an herb and tea garden. There is a lovely pond and you may see some artists there painting sometimes. There is also the traditional sand style gardens with stones and they do serve some food.
Auto Mall Pkwy
"Great lunch to go"
Extreme Pita has great pita sandwiches. A great place to get lunch to go or they deliver and that is even better. They even have online ordering so you can go read all the great foods they have for yourself. I love a simple pita chicken myself. The people are nice when you go in and when you order delivery it is always fast and the meat still hot and the lettuce cold and crisp.
There’s a designer shop to get upscale looking purses and wallets. A great place to get gifts.
There’s the sharks store to get sports stuff but mainly the Sharks stuff.
"Gifts for loved ones"
To fit in with the Cemetery and cancer centers the name Kate's Caring Gifts work well but she has gifts for all occasions. She has great world coffees and teas. I love the different chocolates she has. She has some great smelling body wash and other care products. She also has nice earth friendly toys. You can order gifts and have them sent to the recipient for you.
The Domino’s pizza is as good as any other. Most of the food in the area is fast food. Otherwise the street is the school and some homes and the cancer center. It does look like a nice neighborhood and the highschool is called the hornets.
"Summer fun at the dinner"
The Wendy’s here is pretty good. There are a lot of apartments and a good chiropractor. There is also a Quiznos and little Caesars pizza.
The Classic Diner is a 50’s dinner it’s just off the street on freemont actually as the address. Breakfast lunch and dinner. They have great meals and shakes. The people are friendly and it is always a fun time. It can be crowded sometimes, especially in the summer when they have car shows but it is fun to go see the old cars then have a bite of food in the old time dinner and just kick back.
"Thai and Pho food"
Cracker Barrel Deli is near the hospital and Plaza. It is not The Cracker Barrel chain but a Thai restaurant. Anything curry is good and the Turkey berry is a nice surprise even though it sounds odd. They do have sandwiches too. The service is fast and friendly and the place clean.
Pho Kim Long is another great place to eat. The food is great but the place is small and it could be kept a little nicer some days. It is worth it thought if you want to try something new and tasty.
Otherwise there are several nursing homes along this street, probably due to being near the hospital.
"Train museum and ride"
Niles Canyon Railway Museum is great for train or history enthusiasts. You can even ride one of the trains for an hour round trip to see what it was like to travel on one of those old trains and see some scenery. It’s like stepping into the old west. They run everything like it was run in the old days so it’s a steam engine and the depot is old and looks like it’s from the old west as well. It’s a lot of fun and a great way for kids to learn about the past and the importance of the railways.
"Skating, lunch, dinner and drinks"
B J's Restaurant & Brewery is a busy place but a good one. A nice place to grab a bite of pizza and a drink with friends so it can be a bit noisy. The bar section is nice to hang out but the pizza is great and you can choose your own toppings. Kids are allowed just not in the bar section.
There is also a ice skating rink. Always a special find in CA but it’s surprising how many I’ve come across. They keep the place nice and clean.
Mimi's Cafe is a great place for muffins and lunch. I like the salads and the sandwiches are good and the servers are always nice.
South Ellsworth Ave
"Fine dinning and fine people"
Lots of doctors and dentists here but there is one bright spot, Ellsworth Restaurant. This place has great food and they are very nice and attentive and catch them on the right day and you may get an extra treat. There are lots of great things on the menu and the seafood dishes are among them. The prices are a bit high but they are probably serving a lot of Drs ;) The atmosphere is nice with lighted candle in the booths. It’s a place that has been here a good long time and for good reason. A good tip is to order the tasting menu.
"Date night or out with friends"
If you like to try new foods the Lure is the place to go. They have new things on the menu regularly. They change the menu several times a year. The waiters are great and the décor is nice kind of retro feeling. The food looks as great as it tastes. So a good date place as the food looks kind of fancy but the place isn’t too stuffy. There’s many different nationalities present on each menu incarnation, lots of fun to go back regularly.
Movie theater being on this street two make dinner and a movie date night just right.
East 3rd Ave
"Two great sushi places"
Hotaru Japanese Restaurant Very busy place so try to get there early and sign in. It’s pretty small. Great sashimi and very attentive waiters. You should also try their specials. They also have a great to go lunch deal. They have great portions.
Sushi Sam's I think this is the better of the two. Simple place and décor but pleasant and clean. It’s been here a long time and deserves it’s great reputation. Prices are higher and portions smaller but the food is worth the extra expense. A favorit is the crab and the special dipping sauce. They also have great lunch boxes to take out. They tend to be busy too.
West 41st Ave
"Best BBQ and pet toys"
Here we have Toys R Us for dogs. It’s called Toys for dogs and cats. Lots of great hard to find toys. If your dog has a special favorite toy you need to replace they can probably find it for you if they don’t already have it. They have great collars and leashes if you want something fancy and especially love some of the great dog treats.
Okay I ate at Armadillo Willy's BBQ the first time because of the name. They have great slow cooked bar b que. I just love BBQ ribs or chicken wings with a heaping pile of mashed potatoes. I like adding extra BBQ sauce to my potatoes. This is real BBQ food cooked over flames of wood smoke for extra flavor. They also have burgers.
"Spa and body help"
There is the health center that is called Relax health. They give a nice massage and are good with muscle and tendon issues too. But if you really have problems you should check out Lotus healing. They do acupuncture and massage and have hot tea too. They also do some beauty stuff there but their main thing is being good at relieving pain with the massage and acupuncture.
If you have even bigger problems than that, especially chronic problems then you may want to try the vitality center. They have a nutritionist who can help as many problems are caused by diet. They do massage and acupuncture too. And regular spa. So a good all in one place but the others are nice for specifics or to try out.
I do like to shop at Marggie’s clothing too. Helpful people and a nice selection.
East 4th Ave
"A place to get away and relax"
There are a lot of stores for shopping and Central Park Bistro is right there by them. It has great food and the bread is good the parking is fine. They have great sea food and mashed potatoes. They even have great deserts like the chocolate fondue.
There is also a nice spa, face and body studio. They give massage and make overs. You can get waxed and eyebrows done. The decor is well done but not over done. It’s tasteful and relaxing. A great way to distress after a long day. She is also great with clearing up skin health issues.
"It's a teens mall"
This is a good mall. The video arca can be busy but the games are good and not to expensive. The mall it’s self is an average amll with a food court and basic stores and teens hang out there. Typical mall. See’s candy, a maternity clothing store, basics like sears and radio shack. Most of the stores are not fancy but to cater to the youth element so it is a good place to shop for teen clothing or for them to hang out. The mall is kept clean and the parking lot seems fairly safe.
The Elephant bar outside of the mall it’s self is very nice and better than the food court.
Lake Chabot Rd
"Kids park and mom's spa"
Castro Valley Community Center and park is the highlight of this street. Best on a hot day due to the water fun like the fountain things for kids to run through. There is also a large sandy playground set up for kids to play and build sand castles like on the beach but safer. There’s a lot of shade and the kids play areas are fenced in and gated. There are also slides and regular playground stuff.
For adults there is a spa on this street near the hospital. You can get a great massage there. It’s a nice relaxing place and the staff is nice. You can also get a facial and aroma therapy.
A great sushi place not far from the spa as well that is very good.
"A nother great nature reserve"
Another nice park here called Garin. It is a nature park with great views and photo opportunities. There are some nice trails and it’s a nice but short drive in the hills. There are picnis tables and bar b que pits so it is a fun full day trip. On week days there is a center open which has nice historic displays such as blackmithing and old ranching tools. The garden is an old home from the early 1900’s the cottage is interest but the garden is beautiful and filled with native plants. You can fish here and once a year there is an apple festival. The bottum of the road is just homes.
"Marsh park for wildlife viewing"
The shoreline interpretive center is great for kids. They have programs in the building that sets on stilts at the shore. They have exhibits that change from time to time including art work. They also have programs to learn about the wildlife of the shoreline. Including day camps for kids in the summer. You can fish here in certain areas but need a license. There’s a lot of variety of wildlife to see and photograph with the salt and fresh water marshes. The trails are gravel and allow people to take horses on some of them but the gravel is good for a bike ride. There are no picnic tables.
Carlos Bee Blvd
"Human history and dinner out"
This is home to the anthropology museum and near green belt park. They have old masks and dolls and other kinds of art. There is art on the walls and photos of old ruins and relics. There is a lot to see as you walk around even in the halls. They have stuff for kids too. It’s at Meiklejohn Hall but is open for visits from anyone.
The university ball fields are here. Green belt park has some nice hiking trails which go along the creek.
The international house has okay food but it’s not great. Nice selection of things though to please everyone if you are dinning out in a group. It can be a bit busy due to the college crowd.
"Theater in the woods"
Atmos theatre is the theater in the woods. It’s a great theater. There are a few stages and areas for performances but one main one. The sitting area is old style wood bleachers for the amphitheater. There’s redwood trees all around and trails through. There’s a pretty creek there too and some of the seating is carved out of stumps. You hike to each performance spot. It’s so fun the show hardly matters but they have great performances and choose interesting plays. But there are no pets allowed. It’s a lovely setting so be sure you take some food and picnic too.
Neil Young also lives along this road.
"a place for the mind and spirit"
The healing zebra center of arts is great. It’s new and has a good look about it with the arch door way. There are classes on painting and other arts like drawing and collage. There are also yoga and dance classes. Writing, poetry and some others. But it’s not just art it’s about really expressing yourself to help heal you. You can register for classes for free but do have to pay to attend. It’s a very relaxing and healing environment and the instructors are friendly and helpful.
There’s not good food in the area but there is Quizno’s which I happen to love.
"Music and history"
San Mateo County History Museum is in the old court house. This is a museum of the old west with photos of wagons and other old photos. Also old books and art work and regional history. Old clothing and transportation is also highlighted, even a bit on surfing.
There is also Broadway on Broadway that is a little club with local music which is near both of the Fox theaters. Talk of Broadway is a good place to catch breakfast or lunch. I love the omelets and waffles. They do also serve dinner but Broadway Prime is the best place for dinner if you are a meat eater.
South Perimeter Rd
"More garden and isalnd food you must try"
The Sunset Gardens is located here, from the people who put out sunset Magazine. The tours are self guided and best of all it’s free. So you can take as much time here as you like. Expert hands have planted and kept this garden nice. There is also a gift shop where you can buy the magazines.
On the other end of the street is Back A Yard Caribbean American Grill. They have some great meat dishes some kind of unique that you don’t see other places like the Oxtail I’ve seen those in store but only gave them to my dogs but they taste great in this soup. Also love the plantains and jerk chicken.
There is a hospital and clinic in the area too.
"Remember the telvision show Dynasty?"
That was filmed here. The place is called Filoli. It dates back to 1917 and is a Georgian-style residence. It has a great big garden that is just lovely to wander through. There are over 16 acres of gardens so you can easily spend the whole day here. You can just wander around or pay for a guided tour. Inside the mansion is just gorgeous too. It’s about the only thing out there other than Edgwood county park. So it is good there is a café on grounds. The food is mostly sandwiches but they are pretty good they do have some other things too. This is a great place for picture taking or sitting to do some art.
"Best place to catch lunch"
P W Market has a good deli. A great place to get your lunch if you are in the area and all their produce and meat is fresh. Pizza California, not to be confused with California pizza kitten, is another good lunch spot. You can get a salad and a slice. There is plenty of room if you want to eat in a nice place rather than take out.
I’ve heard from many that the gold course is great.
Still the best part about the area is the food. Chez Sovan has great food. If you love curry then you will love this food.
"A touch of country"
Nola's Iris Garden is here and is a very nice place. The gardens are fantastic and they sell top quality bulbs at just the right time for planting so you can have great flowers of your own too. A friend also has horses at the boarding part of their ranch and this is a great area for riding. In fact that’s the best part is the scenery. It’s a lovely drive up there and there are some nice areas to get great views. Being up on the hill is country without really leaving the city fully. Would be cool to live up there.
"Good coffee and great food"
There are like a million Starbucks in San Jose so I am glad to bring to light a great coffee place on Meridian Ave. Cardinal Coffee Shop & Lounge is great. They serve great breakfast food too. There is karaoke at night. Best of all is it’s 24 hr dinner but the coffee is great too.
Another good coffee spot on the same street is Willow & Meridian. More upscale fancy coffees and internet café. I love getting ice mochas.
Three Flames Restaurant is great steak and Bar B Que foods. Ribs and chicken are great. They have live music sometimes.
South 10th St
"Art and fun, skating"
I mainly go to Roberts Art Supply & Bookstore for the art supplies but they sell books too but mostly books for the college courses. It’s a nice quiet environment and the people are nice and very helpful.
Then there’s Shark’s ice rink. It’s large rinks and an arcade for younger kids. The place is kept clean and it’s just a lot of fun.
The auto wrecker is a great place to get good working parts cheap and they are willing to help you find the right thing. It’s great when you don’t want to spend the money for new.
Also Spartan stadium
South 1st St
"A good place for pets and fun"
Downtown Dogs Daycare is a great day care and boarding place for your dogs. My dogs are always happy there and never seem stressed. The people there seem to love my dogs as much as me. There is also a nice park on the street where you can take your dogs but I recommend keeping them on leash as it is a small park.
I play pool sometimes as I grew up with my father doing that. South First Billiards Club and Lounge is a great place. Their tables are nice and clean and level. They also have some cool art on the walls to look at. It’s not too noisy even though it is popular.
Almost forgot the contemporary art museum. That's worth checking out!
"Motorized bikes and rental cars"
Okay if you flew into San Francisco then the rental car place here is good and friendly service and a gas station a block away. It is also one of the cheapest places to get your gas. There are some printing shops and they are good to print up calendars for Christmas gifts. I made one of the pets last year. But a real novelty is the motorized bicycle shop. Those are nice as you can get electric and save gas but still go fast. Often bikes go faster than cars in San Francisco. There is also a bridal shop ticked away on this street that looks to have nice things.
"Some artistic kitchen designes."
I like art so one of the highlights of this street is the clay art studio. They have some really fancy plates and serving ware that is truly art. I love to go look even though I can’t buy much. It’s also neat Peet's Coffee & Tea which is my favorite place for drinks. There are some car lots. The dry cleaner is reliable. Oh if you do get the plates you may want a nice kitchen to go with it and there is a place that is good at that and did my friends kitchen called My Kitchen Cabinet and Design.
East Grand Ave
"Lots of stores and places to stay"
There is a nice park but small at grand and gateway. The furniture store has some nice things so I like to look there. There are several hotels since it is near BART and the airport. The best hotel there is comfort suits which also has laundry services. Max’s has the best food ever and if you have a party can cater or you can get great take out. There is a Starbucks near by but the best coffee is on the grand avenue main. There is also a wholesale men’s clothing store for cheap but nice gifts for your man.
"Kind of part of Old Mountain view"
They just gave it a new name but was part of Old Town before. The homes are old but nice and the people diverse and interesting. There is Mr. Chau's Chinese Food it is fast food so is okay Chinese food but not gourmet it is quick though so good dinner when you don't have time. I would say the best food is the Pizza and Pasta place.
The highlight is probably the park. Rengstorff Park has a pool and indoor activity center. There's a cool waterside and with the park you can gill your own lunch. It's a great place to hang out. They even have a skate area there.
"Great neighborhood and lots to do"
One of my streets reviewed really reviews the great pool they have in this area. Good restaurants and transportation is readily available with BART. Also the great park and rec center.
And of course it boarders Temescal Creek, parts of which are great to visit and scenic though a lot of it also has been built over so you may be better off taking a trip to the lake.
There is also the large Paramount Theater. Aside from the entertainment there is great art inside as well. There is some interesting local culture with the University in the area as well which also makes for some great coffee places. I love Aunt Mary's Cafe.
"Fresh seafood for home cooking"
I love getting fresh ingredients to make things at home. I especially like finding unique ingredients. Hapuku Fish Shop is one of those great places to shop for fresh and unique food. They have the usual plus live crabs, sushi and other shell fish. There are so many fish to choose from for new dishes to make. They also have some fresh cooked foods available. There is also the Pearl Oyster Bar & Restaurant if you do not want to cook but want a great night out on seafood.
"Great park and sushi"
HALCYON PARK is a great park for kids. It is huge but had a nice new kids area with climb and play equipment. Bit out of the way from other places I reviewed but is one of if not the best parks. For really young kids there is a good day care that parents talk about.
Another great thing on this street is Ozeki Sushi Teriyaki for sushi and Japanese cuisine. There’s not much to look at but the food is good. I recommend getting it to go and eating it at the park.
"Spa near airport to relax."
The Edgewater Spa gives a great massage. The products are great and the atmosphere is very relaxing. The park plaza is a nice place to relax a bit too but it is kind of near the airport. For those tourists and visitors though there is a shuttle service and a massage after their flight might be just the thing.
"Nice park near food and historic district."
There is the Brookfield park and library. The village area is an interesting historical place to visit as well. Speisekammer is nearby but not on the street. It is great German food. I love German food and this is authentic. You’ve not had real coleslaw till you’ve had German coleslaw. My favorite of course is the hasenpfeffer.
"The best pool in town"
There is the Temescal Pool which is great fun in the summer and good to play and dive in as much as doing exercise laps. It’s nice and big with a great deep end. It is not to far from Mosswood Park and it’s recreation center. It’s also not far from a Bart station.
"Where the pets go"
Paws and Claws is a great locally owned pet store with natural pet foods and products and friendly helpful owners there to serve you and answer questions. They also offer grooming on site. Also somewhat in the area is Doggy Lama pet care, boarding and dog walking. For people there is the Laurel Bookstore. They can always find me the books I want.
"Enjoy floating, art."
Float is one highlight of this street. Float is a unique art gallery. The name comes because you can also get time in a flotation tank and a massage after. A trip to the art gallery has never been so relaxing. Another art stop would be the Keiko Nelson Art Studio. It’s in an old mill building and they always have some nice art on display.
"Good area for photos"
Preservation Park is here and it is a nice park. People reserve it for events like weddings sometimes. It has some cool looking fountains and gates. It’s near the Victorian district. There is also the local land mark of the Tribune Tower and Hotel Oakland. It makes for good spots for photo taking if you like old buildings. The clock tower is especially nice photo material.
City Hall Plz
"A good place to start at the heart of the city"
If you are new to the city this is a good place to start. At it’s the city center and you can catch a walking tour here every week and learn all about the city and what’s in the area. They point out all the landmarks to help you learn your way around.
There is the city hall for legal stuff and the down town plaza which is a park with a historic 100 year old tree.
Bay Fair Mall
"the mall and movie theater"
Surprised I’d be the first to review the mall. First the theater is 16 screens but small theaters and clean but I recommend evening shows when there are less kids unless you have kids and don’t mind them making noise and such. There is a nice arcade for the kids too. The mall has Macy’s. They also hold a farmers market. Which I think is really cool for a mall to do.
"Good food and coffee"
One of the best parts about this street is the bagel shop. They have specialty bagels and they are fresh and hot. There is a Starbucks too. But Sabino’s coffee is better. A good place to eat is the oriental tea house. The food is great even if the place looks a bit weird. The cost is reasonable too. There’s a hotel and a karate place.
North Central Ave
"Arts and Culture"
North Central has the Heard Museum and the Phoenix art Center. The heard Museum has all kinds of modern and world arts are on display regularly. Sometimes they have movie days or art sales. The art center covers all the major art types both current and past. There are plenty of great places to eat and many more art galleries in the area.
South Central Ave
"Takes you right to the mountain"
Drive right up to Mountain Park. I love the drive to look out at the wilderness but I let someone else drive. Driving can be a bit scary (note in the park not on Central, in the park the road is winding and tight). There are some nice picnic set ups too. There are some good restaurants on Central but there is a market too if you just want to bring snacks along.
North 7th St
"Come see the mountain"
Camelback Mountain. There is a hotel to stay at and a visitor center on both sides though one side has more than the other to see. The hiking and biking trails are especially nice in the spring. This is a great photography site. There is also a great Greek place to eat at. I love the traditional wall paintings there. Great place for sandwiches also to pick up for a hike, just call in advance.
North Galvin Pkwy
"Plants and animals"
The botanical gardens are a regular stop. No this is not some water hungry roses and other lush greenery; this is the desert botanical gardens. You can learn all about the wildlife of the desert. The desert is not as dead as you think. If you catch the right tour you even get a great lunch. There is also some info on the local Native American people. Of course the zoo is also in this area.
West Pinnacle Peak Rd
"It's the water park"
Yeah I'm the first to review the road the water park is on, ha. It is a national chain water park with a safari theme. There is a wave pool, water slides and a river to tube down. The best part is you can leave and come back with only one admission long as it is on the same day. You could go to a nearby restaurant for lunch like the steak house or go to the gym at the community center then go to the water park to cool off. The center even has an inside track so you do not need to run in the heat.
North 72nd Pl
"Fun things to visit"
N. Scottsdale Rd is home to the Phoenix herpetological society. This is a great place to visit if you like lizards and snakes. It is a great place to visit even if you do not so that you can learn about the native wildlife you share the area with. They house and sometimes adopt out all confiscated reptiles in the area. You can even see alligators here. While there is a large recreation area and some golf clubs not too far away a lot of this road is in wild desert a pretty drive but carry water and emergency supplies just in case.
"Wildlife and nice locals"
I love driving around this area at night to see the deer. It can be starting to see deer grazing on someone's lawn for the first time in a city. There are there because of the wild park area. Hiking around the park is not advised unless you stay on a trail. It can be a bit dangerous as the footing can sometimes be unstable. I don't think I could afford a home here but it is a nice area to visit. It is also not as crowded to visit the park as it is any of the coastal attractions. Hiking up the peeks in summer is hot but worth the view. There is a decent bike trail too.
East Euclid Ave
"It's okay if you have too"
Not sure what to say it's not as bad as the other Euclid but I tried not to go out much around here except to work and back and to get some food. Some nice old trees, so shoot me I do like trees. It feel so sad and hopeless being where there are no trees. The homes are large and old. There are some vacant grassy areas but I guess that is better than standing condemned homes. People who bought the land are hoping it will be worth more later for business instead of homes. There is a home with boarded up windows, okay it may have been leveled and hauled away by now too but it's a good bet there is always at least one around here. It's not bad during the day if you live here but I'd not go out at night, um, unless you enjoy danger and excitement. Not a mixed well neighborhood, okay was trying to be nice it's one race only. There is litter on the street too okay i can't prove this but assume it is still so but heck ther eis litter where I live now too. In that repect people are the same everywhere. Oh there is a factory so you could potentially work and live in the same area, if you want to live there but I forget exactly what
"Not worth the time if you can avoid it"
Some nice old trees. The homes are large and old and not in great condition. There is lots of vacant grassy areas. There are several homes with boarded up windows. It's not bad during the day if you live here but I'd not go out at night. Not a mixed well neighborhood. there is litter on the street too. Really I suggest a different route. The people I was working with hated it when the guy would drive down that street and never did when they drove themselves. They told me a tale of a guy getting shot for riding his bike on the wrong side of the street one year, before my time, but it could just be a story, so am sorry to be mentioning it, but still, be aware.
West Euclid Ave
"This street has potential"
There are lots of vacant grassy areas due to stupid investors buying land land not doing anything with it. These sorts of investors can really destroy a neighborhood. So unfortunatly there are some problems such as Graffiti. There are some nice old trees. The homes are large and old. The sidewalks aren't great but are okay. The homes are old and some are getting rebuilt. This area has potential if it keeps up. There's no good drainage on the street though and some areas gather water when it rains.
There is a hotel by the same name as the street. We did a petting zoo for a supermarket for one weekend. It was a nice event but the kids as always, were bit excitable. i mean most were to scared of the animals and acted more like it was haunted house or something.
"It's not bad by the school"
School an the street. The priest school does help make this street one of the better ones in the area. Lots of vacant grassy areas due to investors buying land and leveling things then doing nothing with the land. There are some nice trees where homes are left. The sidewalk is good because of the school. The street is in good condition. The homes near the school are in good condition as well. This is a decent area. The Fountain apartments might be the safest choice for living in the area. This is not a very mixed area so many will not feel welcome here.
"Just may turn around"
Between highway 10 and Parks Rosa boulevard. Near schools. There are lots of empty grassy places due to homes being bought and leveled by investors hoping the land will be worth something later for building on. I would rather see the land used for something now. It really ruins the neighborhood but I guess that's what they want so that they can get the land cheap. There are some trees and some greenery in a few of the yards. Some people do still try. Some houses have fences and most have some sort of lawn or yard. They are okay but the area is not very mixed and not safe at night. Still there is potential as people do still show some care for their homes and yards and neighbors. I suppose kids could play in those grassy areas during the day if supervised and not to littered but such places usually are. Yates park would be a better choice to play.
"A nice street with good houses."
From highway 10 to Virginia Park Street. Better than others in the area. Comparatively it is a very nice street in the area near Sanders Elementary school which is on this street. It is a single race neighborhood, not mixed at all. So not a place for everyone but nice for those that fit in. Some people work in there yard and have gardens with flowers and plants to make the area look nicer, showing some neighborhood pride. Most homes are kept well and look nice. You know how your neighbor reflects on your own home's value. A few of the homes still need some work. The sidewalk could use some work as well but the street is good. The parking is on street parking. Some yards are fenced but most are open lawns.
"It could be better"
Near Voight park. Runs on both sides of the highway. Also has a small park of it's own. There are some vacant grassy areas. A company is buying old homes up for the land in case they need it but it's not so great for people still living there unless they sell though the vacant areas also lower property values. Parking only on one side of the street. Some windows are boarded over but most are not. The yards are just grass and no flowers or other plants. The food bank is in this area though there are some nice old homes around 1400 block. I suppose I could give a higher rating based on that but think the street as a whole is not so good and would hate to mislead people.
"A lovely walk"

Two lane road with painted divider lines. Side walk is busted up in places the road is so-so. Not a great area. There is a auto repair place on the corner. Homes look abandoned and covered in graffiti. The street is littered. It's not a good area to walk and I would not drive there at night.

"right by the public school"
Maltby street is right next to the elementary school. Other wise the street is mostly lined with homes. There is a decent nursing home on this street as well. So it is good for young and old a like. Though there is some crime it is not so bad as to avoid.

"Avoid this area"
There's a liquor store right across from a boarded up building. I think that says it all. There is graffiti but it does get cleaned up sometimes but for the most part there is lots of graffiti and many buildings have security doors fit for bank vaults. I say avoid this area.
"A place to shop"
This is a nice quaint area to shop. The old shops are great and the few chains don't hurt the atmosphere to much. It's the place to go for gifts. there a nice custom jewelry shop and a shop catering to men's gifts. Toy store, book store, antiques, portraits, engravings, and clothing too. some murals on a few walls too.
"Not the best place"
Troop Ave has some graffiti and the street is not kept very clean. Quite a bit of litter and trash in some places. The building near the laundromat has a lot of boarded up windows but it is near the day care and usually has apartments for rent. I would avoid being out at night.

"There is nothing here"
Really there is nothing here. It is such a short street. There are grassy areas and trees that belong to the homes and apartments on the adjoining streets. You are not allowed to park here because it's a narrow street so that makes the street near useless except as a short cut.

There is a nice park like area with grass and trees where you can wait and read a book while waiting for time to pass till you need to hear to the fairy that is nearby.
"Avoid this street at all costs!!!"
Seriously you just want to avoid this street. Full of junkies and bums but then what do you expect from a street named after someone who made pot brownies as their claim to fame? I suppose if you can stand it, it is in a good location as being near to better and more fun areas.
Bertie Manor Ln
"Not the best area"
Quite a bit of violent crime homeless and weird people. The Saint Francis Apartments are okay on the inside. You don't want to park your car on the street around here if you have one. It is almost sure to be broken into. There is lots of noise, including people yelling and the occasional gun fire.
"A little bit of history"
There is a little bit of history here with old buildings like the old hotel from the early nineteen hundreds. This area is not the best to be at night but is located near where much activity and fun this are they are just all on other streets. You may want to stay in the hotel they offer a lot but call a cab if going out at night. Only a block from union square.
Terry Francois St
"China Basin/Terry A. Francois Street by the bay"
Home to AT&T park China Basin has nice apartments and condos right on the bay. People can watch ships from their windows. There are some interesting memorials and sculpture but over all it is just becoming a place to be. As with most places in San Fransisco there are some good places for music along the street but they are mostly dance clubs
Fair Oaks St
"Fair Oaks Street has everything you've ever wanted"
Well, maybe not everything but just about. There is even a spa. But the first thing the mention is the Street Fair. It's like a big community garage sale. A sidewalk sale I guess you'd call it. You can find just about anything there and of course there are lots of interesting characters. There is also food and music. Okay so the spa is a salon but is nice as they restored the old church and it looks very nice. Where else can you go to church and get a make over?
