There's now a new park in the Lower West side from Chelsea to Meatpacking called the High Line. Very different kind of park.

Oh, maaaaan I could sing the praises of the High Line in epic poetry. It was truly a delight to experience walking over the busy streets Chelsea and the Meatpacking district, and getting that perfect view of the river. In autumn (when I went) they had planted some kind of sweet-smelling grass and there were people parked on the lounge chairs reading in the lazy afternoons. One of the few places I could be smack in the city and forget I was in the city at all.

Thank you, thank you, Friends of High Line Park for making something so good.

Thanks for the list. I've been to many of the parks you listed. I've found some better than others. But just to get away from the stress of the city was great enough for me.
