If your child wants a fun birthday, take them to Animal Kingdom on Independence Way. It's a megasized pet store that has its own *rainforest* that's actually *inside* the store itself, and they even hand-raise young birds here! You can feed the fish and watch the tropical birds in their "natural" habitat. It's more like visiting a zoo. Kids can have their birthday parties here and you can bet your child's birthday will be remembered as a favorite for years to come.

There's also a large skating rink located along Fields Lane right on the North Salem border. It's great places to host birthday parties and is home to many hockey teams (school and club) in the area. The rinks are also open to the public on the weekends, with the schedule posted online (http://brewstericearena.com/Rink_Schedule.html).

I'm going to add some new things I found. The Brewster Library has lots of programs for kids, including a writing workshop with Gail Carson Levine, who's a well-know childrens' author. A new place, Kid Escape USA, just opened near the post office- it's once of those bounce-house places. And I just discovered Brewster Macaroni Kid, which has events and venues for kids. It's a great resource and I've found quite a few things to do with my daughter.
