Right at the end of Main Street there is a very beautiful stretch of park right up against the harbor which is a great spot to relax and enjoy the heart of Cold Spring Harbor. Grab a sandwich from a deli across the street and people watch from a bench or just enjoy the view.

If you’re looking for something a bit more engaging, check out Cold Spring Harbor State Park. This area offers trails that take advantage of hilly terrain to give you more challenging hike that can be difficult to find on the mostly level terrain of Long Island. During the autumn you’re going to get some unbeatable sweeping views of the foliage against the harbor.
Located not too far from town, this is a great spot to quickly get lost in nature.

A little ways further north you'll find Caumsett State Park, which offers miles of hiking, biking, and horseback trails. This area is gorgeous and will take you right out to the sound. There is a small vehicle entry fee, but you can easily spend a full day here and it is worth every penny.
