"Great street for driving and eating"

Flatbush is one of those main drags in Brooklyn that cuts through various neighborhoods of descending quality, but there are generally a number of shops and restaurants on just about every block of this street, except for where it cuts through Prospect Park.

Up where this street intersects with Atlantic Ave, a tourist would find plenty to consume by way of dining experiences. Flatbush continues north until it becomes the Manhattan Bridge, and in this area a tourist might feel as if they were in a shorter version of Manhattan's midtown. There are a lot of great tourist stops in this neighborhood, including Junior's of cheesecake fame.

This street is busy just about all of the time as it is one of the major roadways in Brooklyn.
Pros
  • access to a range of neighborhoods
  • access to Grand Army Plaza, Prospect Park
Cons
  • So. Much. Traffic.
  • Little parking

"A busy Street in Brooklyn"

When we visited our friends, one afternoon they took us for a walk down a few miles of Flatbush Ave. I was amazed at all of the hustle and bussle! There were hundreds of vendors up and down the street. The roas was busy with a constant heavy flow of traffic. I learned later that Flatbush is the main street through Brooklyn.Lots to buy, look at and tons to do along this street.

""Major street in Brooklyn""

Flatbush avenue is one of the most major streets in Brooklyn crossing with other major streets such as Eastern Parkway, Fulton Street, and Atlantic Avenue. The street runs through many areas, including Flatbush, Park Slope, and Downtown Brooklyn.

The avenue serves as a home to many small businesses that services the communities that are close by. In the Flatbush area of Brooklyn, there is now a new Target located there, as well as the one located near Flatbush avenue near Downtown Brooklyn.

Flatbush Avenue is also home to Long Island University and the world famous Junior's Restaurant. (Junior's has some of the best cheesecakes in the world). The B44 runs on this avenue.

So take one day and ride through Flatbush avenue to see what is has to offer. You won't be disappointed.

"You can't mention Brooklyn without Flatbush"

This is THE thoroughfare for Brooklyn, so if you live in the area it's pretty much impossible to miss. It's an entity unto itself, and if you ever need a jolt of energy, just step out into the bustle. Grab some food from a street vendor, try to ignore the knock off purses and bootleg DVDs all around you- windowshop, hang out with friends. It's all good here. Streets like this are why people come to the City in the first place.

"Lovely little place to meet your shopping needs."

Flatbush Avenue is a major and important street in Brooklyn. One of the reason, this street being famous is that from here you can get an access to the Beverly road having many high end stores and celebrities being spotted here most of the time. Brooklyn Public library, Academy of Music and Prospect Park are some important landmarks situated here. I preferred eating here than shopping; that was much cheaper than shopping. Public transport is the only possible way to move across the street as taking a private cab can give you problems with parking.

"Active, alive, and wild!"

I went to Brooklyn College right off Flatbush Ave, and grew up not far from there, so I have a special place in my heart for this crazy area called "the Junction" where Flatbush and Nostrand cross. Like the rest of Flatbush Ave, it is lined with shops, mostly small stores and not big chains. Retail spills out into the street and you can probably purchase just about anything you might possibly want somewhere on this block, likely for a discount! You have loads of public transit options here - at least 4 or 5 buses, and the terminal station for the 2 & 3 subway trains. Whenever I visit this area now, I get myself a Jamaican beef patty or a bagel and take walk around the Brooklyn College campus. That is not open to the public, you do have to get a temporary badge from one of the security gates, but all you have to do is show ID and tell them where you want to go (e.g., registrar, history department office). One other thing to mention about this neighborhood -- there's a Starbucks right off the Ave. These coffee shops may have taken over Manhatten, but not Brooklyn, and it is mighty hard to find a good cup of coffee in the surrounding areas. I go there often when I'm in the neighborhood.

"Can I Walk Down the Street Please!!"

Flatbush Ave. in New York City is full of rhythm and culture. My only problem with this street is every single time I walk down this street someone is always trying to sell me something like a purse, cd, dvd, bootleg of course. I just don't get it. Other than that I love many of the eateries and I love the shopping they have a l lot of urban fashion stores.
