It's a really sleepy part of the city so I wouldn't recommend living there if you like to be in the thick of things. It's a little sketchy at night because it's so quiet and it's not completely gentrified. But, you get a lot more space for your dollar this far up the island. And, it used to be the stomping ground for the elite back in the 18th and 19th centuries so the buildings are breathtaking. Transportation isn't ideal but it's not horrible. You take the red line and can cross over to pretty much any other train around Columbus Circle. Grocery stores and other conveniences don't abound in this neighborhood but there is a lot of green and not a lot of noise.
