I have resided in New Rochelle for 34 years and love it. You mention that New Rochelle is a town, but it is actually a city. We have the largest High School in Westchester with over 3300 students, and we have approx. 75000 people living in the city. As with any large community, there will be petty crimes, http://spotcrime.com/ny/new+rochelle but I understand the statistics are actually half the nation's average..Crime has diminished since 2000 http://www.city-data.com/crime/crime-New-Rochelle-New-York.html . Crime is everywhere, and our police force is working hard to improve its stats. I would rather reflect on the positives in New Rochelle, our award wining schools, and the programs in place to help those in need.
