Eataly

Anyone else been here yet? My friends love it . . but I don't get it. It seems like eating expensive food in a mall's food court.

Haven't been - doesn't seem all that enticing, really.

What is it? Is the atmosphere food court-ish or is it the food that's the problem? Or both? I couldn't discern much from their website, but maybe I was scoping the wrong Eataly.

It's supposed to be an open market with eateries inside. The food's good at one of them but it seems like a food court and one of the places has stand up tables. People were eating oysters whilst standing up. It's just so bizarre and seems like a lot to pay for that kind of ambience.

I have similar thoughts when I end up in the Dean & Deluca on Broadway...
