Plane crash in the Hudson River

Anyone actually see this happen?

http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/01/16/plane.crash.responders/

A friend of mine did, on his way home to NJ. Said he thought that plane was pretty low - and then got lower...

Absolutely the wrong time of year to be in that water. It is amazing with all the people, the babies, the old people, that someone did not freeze to death. And it is something to be proud of - we respond to emergencies very quickly, and without quick response, those people would be dead.

Apparently it was birds, and the pilot did not have the time to return to LGA - so in NYC he ditched the plane the only place he safely could. But what a day for it! Cold and icy.

Dirty birds.

As a regular visitor to NYC it amazes me the pilot was able to land on the Hudson. Still dont understand how the plane didnt break apart?

I'm so amazed at this story!! I'm so happy _everyone_ made it out alive. The pilot is a hero, along with his co-pilot and engineer.

I was reading some more info about it on the weekend, and they reakon the plane flew through a flock of geese! lolz and poor geese :(

Would LOVE to see some images or video of inside the plan when it hit the water, etc.

It was geese???? Oh, they gotta go. I'm one of the few new yorkers who would like to see a hunting season on geese. Even if it is just for one day. They are so dirty and aggressive.

As for the plane not breaking apart, I think this is because it hadn't gained a lot of altitude and speed, and the pilot is very very skilled. Where else in NYC are you going to get a long long stretch where you can emergency land?

Was there any footage of the place actually coming down? I couldn't find any on the web.

That's what I want to see too! How hard did it hit the water?

There is a video on Youtube, security camera footage - skip to 2:00 on the video to see the landing.

wow, that's AMAZING! I've always wondered what the mood would be like in the plane that is going down (I know it's a bit morbid of me). It would be very very scary.

Thanks for the video find nyboy666
