Are there any parts of Poughkeepsie that are prone to flooding?

Definitely some areas around the Wappinger Creek. Houses near it on Vassar Road or its side roads can get some dangerous flood waters nearby, though if you looked at the creek now you wouldn't think we were at any risk of it.

Also during Irene, Sheafe Road near Bowdoin Park was flooded out in one section. Some parts of New Hamburg didn't hold up too well either.

Areas around Ten Mile River and Wappinger Creek can be flooded during severe rainstorms. Hurricanes can cause flooding in other areas as well - Irene made a mess out of Poughkeepsie, although the town did a really good job of rescuing stranded residents and setting up shelters.
