My family and I are looking to move to the New York area.

Both of us are nurses and we have an Autistic son that is 9 years old. What hosptials are near by and what (if any) resources does the education system provide for special needs children? Since I am originally from Alabama, I am hopeful for warm welcomes but have heard the opposite of what to expect. I certainly hope that the people who told me this were very wrong.

The best hospital in New York is NY Presbyterian and the education system isn't great unless you go private. There are a ton of great private schools. NYC gets a bad rap, people here are the best in the world

Good hospitals are "Mount Sinai, New York Presbiterian, Columbia Medical. I doubt youll get a warm welcome but if your nice and you find a close knit community to move into you probably get a warm welcome. As a New Yorker i can tell you "there's no telling with new yorkers".
