Roebling St, Williamsburg

Roebling Street is not as busy as the other popular streets in Williamsburg; but, it's definitely starting to lean in that direction. The area has become what the Bedford area was about 5 years ago. The real hipsters have started to move back and have taken over the Lorimer stop (Roebling's locale) and even moved further east. It's not the quickest street to get to: the majority of the street lies between the Bedford and Lorimer stops -- but there are some really cool places if you do walk the extra few blocks.
Roebling Tea House is, in my opinion, the trendiest spot on the street. The staff is perfectly rude unless you're a hipster. But, the place is so cute that you almost don't care. I consider it more of a winter spot becasue it's pretty dark and all of the furniture is clunky wood. It has an enormous selection of teas (hence, the name) and there are a number of couches in the back area behind the bar so you can curl up and read with a cup or ten. The food is solid if not a little pretentious. But, I do really enjoy this place.
Roebling Pizza is achieving almost iconic status in the neighborhood. The owner, Marc, is really friendly, always there and has an impressive culinary background. The pies are thick and delicious and the place has a really cool vibe. It's kind of hard to find great pizza in the neighborhood, so it's no wonder that this place is a hit.
The residential part of the street that goes more toward the Bedford stop is typical Williamsburg -- except it's much quieter, and, dare I say, greener than most of the others. The apartment buildings are nothing to write home about but some of them are beautiful inside. It's still pretty hipster, but rent increases have given the area a bit more of a graphic designer hipster kind of makeup than, say, a Pratt hipster one from a few years back.

Roebling Street is one of the most happening streets in Williamsburg. Famous for its attraction of hipsters, artists, and musicians in their mid-late twenties, it is definitely a colorful place to visit. One of the hotspots here is the Roebling Tea Room, which offers a fantastic weekend brunch along with a variety of teas that can compete with any Tea room in Manhattan. The transportation here is a little sketchy; it is a 10-15 minute walk from the Bedford street stop on the L line, but on a nice day that’s not such a bad stroll. One of the greatest treats on Roebling Street is the street art that abounds in the nooks and crannies of many of the walls on the apartment buildings.

147 Roebling Street is home to one of my favorite galleries in Brooklyn. The Front Room Gallery of Contemporary Art features all methods of art including photgraphy, videography, audio art and conceptual art. The Front Room Gallery is also very community orientated, supporting a public exhibition space called "The Banner Project". In my experience, I have seen more attendees at the Front Room than any mainstream gallery throughout Brooklyn. The pieces are amazing and imaginative.
