Union St
"625 Union St. Brooklyn"
I hadn't been back to N.Y, in 16 years. This street was just fine for me. Not that busy with foot traffic. Forget about parking a car though. You leave and you'll loose your spot, really hard to find another. It's a good walk to the main shopping streets. But they offer everything. There was a geat small grocer on the corner. Oranges were cheaper than here in Fla. The houses right around the corner on 6th Ave. are very nicely kept. I felt very safe walking, even at night. Locals are very nice people. I saw quite a few singles, bars in the area.
Whitestone Expy
"Whitestone Expressway and 3rd Ave. WATERFRONT RESIDENTAL!"
This is a great Queens Street! There is city acess via Whitestone Expressway. It lines Francis Lewis Park. The homes are much larger. And a little off to Powells Cove, much more impressive, Some homes have their own boat docks. The area is a higher income bracket. The view is also of a hop, skip and jump to the Bronx. Street is more quiet and maintained than the center of Whitestone.
Kissena Blvd
"Busy, Varied and Educational"
A very busy and at parts a very loud street. Where Kissena Blvd. and Main Street meet is a very congested area. There is an extremely commercial area that includes many shops and places to eat. It is also a city bus route. A Library is also on the street. There are two main properties on the Blvd. Flushing Hospital and Queens College. There are residential areas along the Blvd. Some of them are very nice. Rent is average for NYC. I would pick this as one of the best main streets in Flushing.

"The Street with Everything"
Main Street, Flushing, NY. A full mix of all Ethnicicities. Food and Resturants of all types of flavors. Take-up and delivery available also. Movie theatres. Every type of business needed. Large stores and Mom and Pop businesses. There is a subway stop and bus routes. The street is crazy busy. Rush hour is not the time for shopping. Traffic at that time is also horrendeous. I'd suggest taking the bus, subway or parking on a side street. There is very little residental property. Rents are very high.
5th Ave
"Historic Poppenheusen Avenue"
Poppenhusen Avenue is a street that runs through College Point to McNeil Park. The street is named after Conrad Poppenhusen, the founding father and benefactor of College Point. The highlight of Poppenhusen Ave. is McNeil Park. The park has a playground, plenty of green grass and tress for picnics. A waterfront walking, jogging or bicycling path. There is a ballfield and in the winter a great place for sledding!
