"Nice residential street, recommended for apartment rentals."

This is a very quiet area for renting an apartment. You can easily walk to the subway station, to shopping opportunities, and several parks. At the same time, there is not much traffic on the street and it is a peaceful place to live. The area is safe for walking and the neighbors are helpful and friendly. Recommended if you are looking for a quiet place to live in Brooklyn.

"Quiet area for renting."

The bottom part of this street in the Greenpoint neighborhood mostly consists of warehouses. It has a utilitarian vibe to it and is not the best place to visit. However, the neighborhood is safe and quiet, and close to subway stations and retail shopping venues. I would recommend taking a stroll further up Kingsland Ave, where it becomes more of a quiet residential neighborhood, if searching for a place to live.

"Good street for entertainment and dining out in a rapidly changing neighborhood."

Manhattan Ave runs through the Greenpoint/Williamsburg neighborhoods, which traditionally have been inhabited by many Easter European immigrants and artists, but are increasingly shifting to more yuppie inhabitants. This is driving up the rents, but makes for an interesting vibe for the street. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from here. The neighborhood is safe, but this is a busy street with quite a bit of traffic.

"Funky street in a good shopping district."

I made several visits to India St. while living in the area. The street has plenty of interesting stores, entertainment venues, and restaurants with an Eastern European vibe. It is a safe and interesting place to visit. Parking is easy to find if you scout around the parking meters for a while. Subway transportation is within easy access. The neighborhood is safe and filled with friendly people. Definitely recommended for a visit if you're in Brooklyn.

"Good for low-cost living"

I lived on this street for some time while staying with a relative. The street was quite noisy and had a lot of traffic and noise from the subway trains. The street seemed a little dirty and poorly-maintained. However, it is close to subway stations and basic retail stores. The rents here have a reputation for being affordable, so many working singles and students choose to live here. There is a problem with roaches in some of the buildings around. The neighbors did not seem friendly.
