"A Business Area with Plenty to Do"

Portage Park is a neighborhood located on the northwest side of Chicago. It is primarily known as a business district and has plenty to offer throughout the neighborhood, including an intersection known as the " Six Corners". This area is full of famous pizzerias, bars, bakeries, and delicious restaurants.
Portage Park is increasing in popularity for real estate and a place to enjoy Chicago's northwest side.

"Excellent and Extravagant"

Uptown Chicago is that of the other uptown areas in our country's Metropolitan cities. It's full of extravagant stores, restaurants, hotels, and activities. Nesteled right on Lake Michigan, Uptown Chicago holds some of the most sought after apartments and city-scaped condos.Due to the fact that this area and lifestyle is so fabulous, it does come with a hefty price tag. Unless you are able to maintain the upscale lifestyle and all that it entails, one might be better off visiting this city haven rather than living here.

"Historic and Classic"

Jefferson Park is known as the Gateway to Chicago. Just as Staten Island is NYC's window to the world for travelers and immigrants, Jefferson Park is that for Chicago. The main attraction in this area is the variation of real estate. This neighborhood is very historic and dated, but the living areas have become modernized, while still maintaining some of the historic architecture that makes this area so classic and enjoyable. It also has a small town feel while being on the outskirts of downtown Chicago. It's rare to find a place that balances a small town feel with the hustle bustle of the big city so near by, but Jefferson Park does it within an affordable real estate price range.

"Great area for the college crowd"

The University of Illinois Chicago campus is parallel to University Village. Heavily populated and influenced by the college crowd, University Village is joined by Little Italy in the southwest part of Chicago. It's a down to earth, yet hip crowd with plenty to do. Just blocks from the heavily populated University, and filled with shops, cafes, bakeries, pizzerias, and stores. A great place for the younger crowd or college student. There is something for every college student here, and a great place to live for anyone who enjoys the laid back college lifestyle. collegeic

"The heart of Chicago"

The Loop is the nickname given to the heart of the city. The attractions, restaurants, sights, and stores that attract millions of tourists each year are formed in the shape of a "loop", which is how the nickname came to be. This is the heart of Chicago, and where the hustle and bustle of the Windy City truly lives. With apartments throughout the area, they remain in the higher price range as it is such a popular part of Chicago. Plenty of restaurants and grocery stores in the heartland of Chicago for all price ranges, needs, and food cravings. You are 5 minutes from exiting the center of Chicago and about 5 minutes from Lake Michigan. Great location as long as you don't mind traffic, a busy city, and plenty of noise and city lights.
gaill
gaill Did anyone tell her she's wrong about where the name for the Loop came from? The loop is made by the trains that all come together here and go around the area in a loop. The area is slightly bigger now than just that loop, but that's where the name came from.

"Noisy, packed, industrial"

Once one of the most popular areas of Chicago, unfortunately this area remains to be one of the most industrial and crowded areas of the southern parts of Chicago. With houses very tightly packed together, and factories shut down but still standing, this area of Chicago seems to be very "dirty" and a neighborhood that would be best to just drive through. Poor school systems, averaged priced and affordable homes but not the safest of areas by any means.

"A great area downtown"

Wells Street is home to one of the best Psychology schools in the nation, The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Apartments are nearby, mostly geared toward students as they are right across from the school, and minutes from all of Chicago's hotspots. While it's a good size campus, it is not the only attraction that is well known on the block. Wells Street is also home to one of the most elegant Japanese restaurants in the Chicago area, The Kamehachi of Tokyo. With award winning food, dining, service, and atmosphere this is a great place to head if touring the heart of Chicago, and in the center area of the Chicago Loop.

"Chicago's Gateway"

I think this is my favorite part of Chicago-- it's scenic drive is one that attracts tourists, and newcomers to live in this city. This is the quickest way to go if looking to travel from the South Shore of Chicago to the Chicago Loop. Also a quick way to head to the Northside. On this street you'll find walking trails, and will be able to enjoy the views of the skyline, museums, and Lake Michigan. From here it's just blocks to these attractions, all within walking distance of one another. The only downside? The speed limit!! A speedlimit of 40 really makes for pretty bad traffic!

"Most Popular Street in the Windy City"

Who hasn't heard of Michigan Ave? The most popular street in Chicago, it is also known as the "Magnificent Mile" This street is filled with some of the most extravagant and luxurious stores and restaurants, such as Tiffany's, Food Life, and The Signature Lounge At 96th. Not a place to really live, but a great place to visit and enjoy whenever you come downtown to enjoy Chicago!

"Great Neighborhood"

This area has some of Los Angeles' most different and eccentric homes, and very hilly...(great if you're trying to walk and get in a good workout!) While not an easy walking spot, it is an enjoyable one. You have stores of every possible kind, tanning salons, malls and smoothie shops, hotels, dry cleaners, dog stores and more. Since this area is very close to the area of Santa Monica, it's a great workout to walk to these neighborhoods as theyre in such a close vicinity. If you're in the area, check out William S. Hart Park built and dedicated to former ranch left to the citizens of Weho to enjoy when its cowboy-star owner passed away.

"Good Surrounding Areas"

Nothing to see here, really.
However, between San Gabriel and Rosemead (south west of the two neighborhoods), you will find the delectable restaurant of Six Taste. Rated one of the top restaurants in the LA area, first I did the did the Santa Monica Tour. I was worried about doing too much walking and not getting enough to eat since we were told to arrive hungry. No problem on either! The walking wasn't bad at all and the food was almost too much! Great food and you must go there if you're visiting, a dining expereince unlike any other!

"Trendy, Urban, Lovely"

In the eastern village near Venice, Windward Circle sits undiscovered but has alot of potential.
This neighborhood has a good balance of all sorts of residents, as the opportunities here vary from industrial, business, to art related professionals. The artsy, urban flair is prominent throughout the area, very laid back and relaxing...yet right next to this area you have all of your stores, restaurants, and commercialized areas. I think it's great...there are great cafes, little shops, and the houses are beautiful...just a hop skip and a jump from the beach too!

"Good living area, but not much doing"

Miraleste Pines is more of developmental area. A newer LA suburb it is still lacking warmth, neighbors, and things to do. While there are alot of real estate opportunities to move or rent, there really isnt much to do in this area. Luckily you are minutes from the freeway, 20 minutes from downtown LA, and very close to the stores, shops, restaurants, and entertainment. Right in the middle of two parks, this area is a better place to live- not work and play!

"A great tourist attraction"

Zoos are in a way, a controversial tourism spot. Some people love them, love to take their kids and spend a day enjoying it. However some people don't enjoy the tourist attraction- wether it's because of the zoo itself, or perhaps the belief that animals aren't cared for at zoos. Regardless of how you generally feel about zoos, I still suggest visiting the LA Zoo. It's a big zoo and attracts quite a few people from all over. It's also a clean zoo...some zoos can be so unkept and drab, but the LA zoo does a great job of keeping the zoo clean, well kept, and a safe and health environment for the animals. I recommend it!

"Why is this place even on the map?"

If you asked someone where Harbor Gateway in Los Angeles is, they will most likely have no clue. If you look on the map you'll see how the area is so tiny, and theres really nothing to do or see here. Take a moment to consider the name however, "gateway" it is the gateway to various well known cities and neighborhoods, but it is not one in itself, more-so the gateway to the better areas of LA. If driving through, just keep on driving.

"Average LA Neighborhood"

Green Meadows really isn't anything spectacular, I met some very friendly people here but the area in itself is nothing really exciting. This area has affordable living, as the standard income rate in the Green Meadows area was around $35,000...so middle class. Has everything you need though all the standard grocery stores, retail stores, and whatever you think of. To me it looks like a regular LA neighborhood but perhaps to someone else they might find it a diamond in the rough!

"Fashion Lovers Heaven"

This area of LA is a shopaholic's dream. Shops and stores everywhere. While I got quite the rush driving into this area and enjoying the stores and all things fashion, it is a high that would eventually diminish over time. While it's a great place to go shopping, meet up with friends at the cafes, attend classes at FIDM , or attending a fashion show...it's very crowded. This is one of the places that can be defined as an essential to LA, but it's very crowded. Tourists, students, and shopaholics are everywhere. Maybe a better day-trip than a place to live.

"High Class for the Higher Paid"

Encino reminds me of one of the standard cities you would see in a movie that features a city in California as the set. This is a beautiful area, but very expensive. Unless you are making a high salary, it is unlikely you'll be able to relocate to this area! This is an area is home to many of the worlds biggest financial establishments and institutions. The average income of this area is around $1,500,000. There is plenty to do here, however, aside from the dining, real estate, and shopping opportunities the job opportunities are tremendous. With so many financial employers in the area, anyone in a career field such as this would find their niche in Encino, LA.

"LA's Reprieve"

This is not only rated the #1 area of LA by StreetAdvisor, but by visitors and residents who have experienced what Elysian Park has to offer. Nearly 15 miles from the famous Dodger Stadium, Elysian Park is the oldest park in the area and through the years many members of the community, government, and envirionmental-gurus have come together restore and fund this beautiful area of Los Angeles.

It's a pleasure and a treat to be able to forget about the fact that you're in a busy and metropolitan area like LA, and come here to enjoy the peace and serenity. You'll be able to step out of your usual routine and enjoy this restored area.

Now, this is still LA so I don't recommend walking alone at night or dusk but overall, its a beautiful area that remains a nice reprieve from the everyday LA lifestyle.

"Convenient but too busy"

This is one of those areas of Venice where there is everything right at your fingertips, but it's almost overkill. Everything is available for you- name it? Yes, it's here! However it's mostly retail and dining and extremely crammed. One would do better trying to find an area surrounding here rather then in this area of Lincoln.

Convenience is important though, it is a positive part of a neighborhood to have easy access to whatever you need at nearly any time of day. However, the crowdedness and busyness of this area is quite a bit to take in. Consider looking at nearby streets if trying to relocate. If not, then enjoy shopping and the comfort and convenience of finding whatever you need, all in one place.

"Piece of History Hopefully to Make a Comeback"

LA is known for it's hip areas, restaurants, and high-end living. It is a place to spot trends, or even start new ones. What we tend to forget about is the historical aspects of LA, and Angelino Heights brings you back to the old historical roots of LA.

Built in the late 1800s, this area is laden with historical homes. Many of the homes in the area are of that classic, Victorian architecture and design. This area has remained very untouched and undone for years but local attention has begun to be paid due to the age of this area. It is receiving some TLC since it is a historical area of LA now, so the place is sprucing up. The beautiful homes still offer some peace and beauty to this town, it just needs more things to do, continuing maintenance, and of course...more residents!

While there is not much to offer as of now, I think as more attention is drawn to this area by locals and the artsy and eclectic crowd, we will eventually have a beautiful and quaint area here in Angelino Heights.

"Extravagant and Family Oriented"

When researching Brentwood, be sure not to confuse Brentwood in LA with Brentwood in San Francisco.
This area is beautiful, absolutely beautiful! While much of LA is geared toward a younger crowd, this is one area that really caters toward the family. Amazing school systems(public, private, and charter), family-geared restaurants, grocery stores, retail. Nature trails, hiking trails, and parks- for dogs and family too! It's also a very short distance to the beach.
If I had to pick any 'con' for this area, it's just that it's one of the most expensive areas in Los Angeles and also more family friendly than anything. I wouldn't recommend having a college student or single living in the area as Brentwood was really developed with the family in mind. Not much of a nightlife, and not too many 'hip' locations- just a clean, reputable family-fun area.

"Not Much Here"

A great "looker" of a neighborhood but not much to do here. The architectural is exceptional and historical but if you can't afford a home that is extremely pricey, you may want to keep on driving.
These homes have intricate design and architecture but they start at around $300,000.
There really isn't much here to visit, enjoy, or eat at. A restaurant here and there, a public library, little stores speckled throughout the area; however, they do have a good school system for elementary, middle school, and highschool. If choosing to live here, perhaps enjoy the beautiful real estate but shop, dine, and enjoy Southern LA by driving a bit to the areas that suit you.

"The Oldest Neighborhood in Tinseltown"

Once known as the " Village", Westwood is oldest neighborhoods in the famous celebrity spotted "Tinseltown"

What many people call a college town (located right outside of UCLA), it has the college town essentials and more. Crowded streets, University bars, libraries stores, condos, apartments, houses, nature trails- everything you need to enjoy the college life experience.

One thing Westwood is known for above all is their movie theaters. Westwood is still known for their movie selection. Cinema has inspired this town, and continues to do so.

It lost some of it's popularity in the 80s after a fire, but the past 30 years it has really strived to live up to its past history and memories. It's making a comeback and is a great place for someone looking for a college atmosphere.

It offers most everything: stores, old architecture, college life, night life, upscale dining, fun restaurants, and opportunities for the college student galore.

"One of the Most Dangerous Areas in LA"

It's name speaks for itself. Skid Row is actually defined as " a run-down or dilapidated urban area with a large, impoverished population." Most presumably how this area got it's name. Skid Row is located near 3rd to 7th Streets and Alameda to Main Street in LA. The area around it has beautiful architecture and some great restaurants with city locals making their establishment serve quality, affordable food. The work ethic is great around that area at all the establishments but it is just not safe. it's a shame, as there are some great hotels in the area and some beautiful buildings that are fun to visit but it's just not safe. You have the convenience of the subway nearby which cuts down on travel times due to high traffic but with an unsafe neighborhood, is it worth it? Especially avoid at night. It is home to some of the most dangerous gangs, and highest crimes in the Los Angeles area.

"Affordable Urban Living"

One of the most affordable neighborhoods in the Los Angeles area. Housing prices start around $250,000 which places Leimert Park as one of the better buys when looking for place to live in LA. The houses throughout the area have the "mecca" type of aritecture with many trees and greenery surrounding the area.
This neighborhood has a very urban, jazzy feel to it. It is home to many hip hop shops, diverse stores and galleries throughout the area.
Schools are not the greatest, however they are working their hardest to make a comeback and raise the school's reputation.
It's a great place for people looking to locate to an urban, artsy neighborhood with many diverse business establishments.
The area is known for it's jazz clubs & restaurants that serve excellent food. Be sure to visit Lucy Florence Coffee House at 3351 W. 43rd St., with some awesome hometown musicians and local talent.
