"What a place!"

Shelter Island Drive is the home of the Bay Club Hotel and Marina. What a place this was. We stayed here on our recent trip to San Diego and it was the most beautiful place I have ever seen. The street is encompassed by this giant resort which has it all. The hotel is on the higher end side, but if you are in San Diego you have to stay here. You are within a drive of San Diego and all of its great amenities.

"Great for a college student"

I went to San Diego State University about ten years ago and as an upperclassmen, my friends and I bought a small place on Campanile Drive. It is on the same street as the college. It is a bit noisy as are most streets that have college kids on it. It is a nice area and for a college student, you can definitely do much worse.

"Tons of bad houses, but close to many attractions"

Richmond Street is near downtown San Diego and is within walking distance of many attractions, such as Balboa Park and the San Diego zoo. The street is always so busy with car and foot traffic from the park. There are a bunch of houses that are for sale, but since I actually bought one of these, fixed it up, and resold it, there is potential to make money and live in great area while you are at it.

"Just beautiful!"

Sea World Drive is obviously the home to Sea World. This street is beautiful since there is a resort that we stayed in right near the park. There are nightly shows involving many different of the sea creatures at sea world. It is especially great for the kids, I have gone there as a kid and now as an adult, there is something for everyone.

"What a great day here!"

North Harbor Drive in San Diego is the home of the Maritime Museum. This street is jam packed with attractions for the museum and it right near the water. It is so busy since is one of the best attractions in San Diego, but is well worth it. Being near the water gives you the opportunity to take advantage of the museums water attractions and activities.

"Smelly but good!"

Zoo Drive in San Diego is a great place to take your kids. As the name states, Zoo Drive is where the San Diego zoo is. It is a really busy street so I recommend parking a few blocks away and then walking to the street. The one thing I noticed when I went was since it was near the zoo, the smell wasn’t too pleasing, but the beauty and weather of the area makes up for it!

"Padres Paradise"

7th Avenue is located right near the Padres home stadium of Petco Park. There is mostly foot traffic on this street since the street is usually closed during home games. You can walk and enter the fields from 7th avenue. If there is ever a game, plan around it and be advised that there is a road block on this street during games. There is also the Burnham house, which is a historic landmark.

"Busy Booming Block!"

3rd Avenue in San Diego is full of everything. There is a great museum, tons of shopping opportunities, and even a theater. It is a booming avenue full of life and has a great night scene. The street is never quiet due to all of the events that are happening. There is always traffic, so plan ahead!

"Great for Basbeall Fans!"

I have traveled to all of the baseball stadiums in the United States and Petco Park was one of the best parks I visited. Located on Park Boulevard, Petco Park is a great new ballpark and really adds some life to San Diego. I went to the Parkhouse Eatery which was an elegant restaurant that I would recommend to all.

"Fishermans Wharf, what a delight!"

On my recent trip to California, of course I had to visit Fisherman’s Wharf. I was so pleasantly surprised by it and already booked my trip to go back next year! There are so many things to do there. My favorite was the Ripley’s Believe It or Not museum. I remember going to the one in Orlando and this one was bigger and better! The Cannery Shopping Center was humungous and gave me some great souvenirs. Luckily, my trip was during July and we were able to see the great fireworks show that is displayed there every Fourth of July. It was a great trip overall, and can’t wait to go back!

"Gives NY a bad name"

Sadly, I made the worst decision when I moved to Tottenville, Staten Island for a job. Luckily, I quit that job and was able to move out of there in a hurry. The town looks so run down, it is terrible. It looks like the projects. There are not many places to eat quality food. The people there are the typical stereotype of non New Yorkers, and it is pretty bad. A lot of the people are loud and extremely rude. The town looks like it is disheveled, and it should not be inhabited. The only good thing about it was that I was right next to New Jersey so I could get cheap gas. Other than that, I am glad I left.

"Riverdale - Peace on Earth"

Riverdale, surprisingly is a very nice neighborhood. It is very easily accessible to Manhattan, and is within a drive of Westchester, New Jersey and Long Island. It is a nice middle to upper class neighborhood with great schools. I have lived there and worked there for over five years now. There are many great places to eat including Ihop on Broadway, Jake’s Steak House on Broadway, and Malacon on Broadway also. These three places to eat are wonderful and I have frequented their very frequently. The number one train runs through the town, but once you get used to it, you barely hear it. This train can take you all the way down to Yankee Stadium and South Ferry. Overall, it is a great place to live.
JuneMcAllister
JuneMcAllister Why surprisingly? Riverdale **starts** at 242nd street and goes north to the Yonkers border and goes west to the Hudson River. The area the #1 train goes though is not Riverdale. The restaurants you named are not Riverdale. That is the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx. Riverdale is not a town. It is an area of a borough of the city. Unless you have actually gone up into Riverdale, over to the river, gone up Riverdale Avenue, the Henry Hudson, over to Palisade Avenue you have not been to Riverdale. Riverdale is nothing like the area you are describing. The area where those restaurants are, W. 231 st and Broadway....is a crappy area. Practically a ghetto. That is NOT Riverdale

DebbyReagan June is correct that the area the Johndoe57 is describing is indeed Kingsbridge. However, when June says "ghetto" she probably means the neighborhood does not have a majority of people that look like her. Is Kingsbridge like the Upper East Side? No. But a "ghetto" it is not. Look up the crime numbers in the 50th precinct which covers that area and you'll find it's safer than most neighborhoods in the city. Ghettos are in Central Brooklyn and Southeast Queens. And Kingsbridge has come a long way in businesses and quality of life. I also find the people who live there to be friendly. I say what's good for my neighbor, Kingsbridge, is good for my neighborhood, Riverdale.

TeddyW Jane smith 12 is absolutely correct. Whatever you look like Kingsbridge is disgusting! Garbage all over the place, dirty, smelly, most under train tracks with tons of traffic it's awful. I've lived in Riverdale for 6 years now and I can also tell you it's turning into a complete dump. People just don't care about their community. Johnson and Riverdale Avenue-both main streets for shopping and restaurants are lined with garbage. It's nothing like it used to be.

bron1974
bron1974 kingsbridge and marble hill are not riverdale. and riverdale is certainly not scarsdale or rye. it's an enclave surrounded by high crime rate areas where folk can buy a palatial mansion and get a tax bargain, a carbon copy of forest hills, queens, but far less youthful, minus nubile, handsome israeli men with floppy hair and pony tails. it's a place with affordable coop apartments in red-brick 1960's style buildings, where you can hear each and every noise that your neighbor makes. God help you if they have a barking dog. the key is avoidance via using autos on the henry hudson toll bridge, the express bus, and uber. otherwise, you are subjecting yourself to great danger and inconvenience, especially after dark. kingsbridge heights around corlear is pretty decent, just west and in the vicinity of the 5-0 precinct. i consider anything east of kingsbridge avenue in kingsbridge to be menacing. i consider marble hill to be menacing, as well. i had a professor at columbia who looked at some 'victorian' up there and was said it was really unsettling. the last of the irish immigrants have nearly all died off, God rest their souls. because of the marble hill housing projects, i would find inwood, hudson heights, or even washington Heights more appealing, providing that it is west of broadway. this is not a comfortable option. why not explore fort lee, hastings-on-the-hudson, larchmont, or englewood cliffs which offer quality public schools and when and if someone jumps out from behind an oak tree at night, they will be highly conspicuous. i'm far happier in new jersey.
