"South Federal Hwy: A more commerical Federal Hwy"

Once you pass Atlantic Blvd, North Federal Hwy turns into South Federal Hwy. South Federal Hwy has a lot of plazas with mom and pop stores, as well as big time stores like Publix, Office Depot, and Marshalls. CVS and Walgreens are even located also the street. South Federal passes over the Pompano Canal. Sometimes, you see small pleasure crafts in the water, depending on the time of the time. South Federal, like North Federal, is always being fixed up because of how propular and well traveled the road itself is.

"South Lyons Road: Home of many accidents"

South Lyons Road where it meets at Atlantic Blvd has a roadway that everytime I pass it, I always see an accident. If you're turning onto Atlantic Blvd from coming from the north, you have to turn down a separate road and immediately merge with traffic on Atlantic Blvd, which people ignore and just keep going, hitting other cars. There are two different circles on each side to get onto Lyons from Atlantic or Atlantic from Lyons. Personally, I've tried to stay away from this area during rush hour traffic. No one really pays attention to what the road signs say. Be careful if you're not used to this area.

"NE 5th Ave: Home of the Goodyear Blimp"

NE 5th Ave is a mainly commerical road that goes around the Pompano Beach Airpark. The southern part of the road is home of one of the four blimp hangars in the world. It is the base of the Stars and Stripes blimp. It is open to the public and the blimp can be toured while it is there. The road itself is well kept, but the sides of the road have been sandy in someplaces and grassy in other. There is a sidewalk that follows the road with benches and water fountains. As the road continues on, it goes into a mainly restidental area. I used to drive on I-95 and see the Goodyear Blimp sign and always wondered where it was. I was driving around and found NE 5th Ave by mistake, finding the Goodyear Blimp base.

"The Festival Fea Market on Sample Road"

The Flea Market sits on Sample Road right across from the junk mountain. It used to be the dump, but there's a plant for the dump behind the mountain now. The Flea Market sits on the east side of the Florda Turnpike. If you're going to the flea market, I would suggest going early if you don't want to hunt for a parking spot. I used to just walk around the vendors and see if there was anything interesting. There used to be a movie theater in the market itself, but it closed down a long time ago. The inside of the flea market has changed a lot in the years, but it still draws in the crowds. People love flea markets and indoor ones usually draw in all kinds of people. You could find anything there for reasonable prices.

"The Pompano Beach Square Mall in Pompano Square"

Pompano Beach Square Mall sits on Federal and Copans, but the mall itself has it's own street. The Pompano Beach Mall has been in Pompano Square for a long time and stores inside have come and gone. The mall has had stores like Sears, Pennys, Burdines, and Dillards. It's 1,000,000 feet, but the mall has seen better days. It's a great mall to walk, but there hasn't been much in the mall itself for a while. Last time I drove past the mall, it looks like they were building something else there, but with this mall area, you never know. The corner of Pompano Square has just been something that kind of sits there. Not a very interesting place.

"Busy street in a busy area"

I used to live on W Atlantic Blvd and whenever I wanted to travel to the beach, I travel Atlantic. I have to say this is one of the busiest streets in Pompano Beach. Once you go past 441, traffic gets worse. There are retails stores like Wal-mart, Carls Furniture, and other misc stores along the way. Of coarse there are restuarants, like McDonald's and Burger King shattered about. The street itself cuts right through a very busy area of Pompano Beach with apartment buildings on different sides. As you pass Lions Road, you cross over The Florida Turnpike and past Powerline, you reach I-95. I still enjoy traveling down this street to see the changes or things that have been the same for years. One thing to remember well traveling down this street is be cautious and aware of people driving around you.
