East City Hall Ave
"Recent developments provide a lot to do."
With the recent developments being made to this area, there is a lot more becoming available for visitors and residents to do. For example you have the MacArthur Center Mall as well as a lot of restaurants and small businesses. It isn’t a heavily traveled area at nighttime so it is safe for pedestrians to walk from place to place.
West Olney Rd
"A museum that has it all."
West Olney Rd offers the Chrysler Museum of Art. This museum offers so many things from exhibitions to collections of American and European paintings and sculpture to contemporary and decorative art. The Chrysler Museum of Art also offers glassware and photography. If you’re into any type of artwork, this is the place to be.
I-- 64
"Bumper to bumper"
Interstate 64 is slammed with traffic (and when I say slammed I mean it’s bumper to bumper) starting about 3:30am to 4am and then again around the same time in the afternoon. It does have an HOV 2 lane which makes it faster for carpoolers, but it’s still going to be busy.
West Bay Ave
"Needs to be repaved"
Bay Avenue definitely needs to be repaved. It’s covered with potholes in its entirety and eventually turns into a one way street. Bay Avenue is lined with little houses that are very old. It’s not a bad neighborhood as far as crime goes, but it could definitely use some improvements to its looks.
East Ocean View Ave
"Great place for eats!"
Ocean View Avenue runs along the bay and provides an excellent view. From here you can see the ships arriving and deporting from the base. Ocean View also turns into Shore Drive and is the scenic route to Virginia Beach. And if you’re looking for a good place to eat, I would check out Mick’s Pancake House. It’s amazing!
Nansemond Arch
"Beware of sharp turn!"
Nansemond Arch is located in a small duplex neighborhood called Merrimack Landing. There isn’t very much traffic, but beware of the sharp turns. It’s a one way street and cars park on the side of the road, but it shouldn’t cause too much trouble as far as room because it’s decently sized as far as width goes
Granby St
"Very pedestrian friendly."
Granby St is a very pedestrian friendly street and is lined with great restaurants and things to do. It’s a nice getaway from the rest of the town, but does get a little busy from work traffic since it’s located right off the base. It also could use a new pave job. But other than that it’s a great street!
Bayou Blvd
"Great countryside view"
Bayou Blvd is another scenic drive if you’re into a more countryside appeal. At the beginning of Bayou Blvd there is quite a lot to do so it’s more congested than further down the way. You have everything from a movie theater to grocery stores to banks on Bayou but once you get past all this is mostly just a bunch of small communities and subdivisions surrounding by nature.
12th Ave
"Has a great view"
I would recommend driving on 12th Ave for one particular reason. There is an amazing, and I mean AMAZING, natural beauty here. Along a part of 12th Ave there are trees that line the road on both sides and over the years every single one of them has managed to lean over towards the other side of the street creating a natural tunnel. It really is a beautiful sight.
Airport Blvd
"Great place for everything."
Airport Blvd is yet another congested street in Pensacola. This is probably because it runs into a lot of main roads and can lead you to a lot of places in Pensacola. It also is the gateway to the Pensacola Regional Airport and is located right between our biggest mall and Pensacola Junior College. If at any way possible, I would suggest trying to avoid the intersection of Airport and Davis.
Pine Forest Rd
"Great for looking at house decorations"
Pine Forest Rd is mostly located in a more rural community except for the small part that is located right off the interstate. There, it can become a little congested right at the enter and exit ramps where there is an abundance of gas stations and fast food restaurants. There are a lot of beautiful houses and subdivisions on Pine Forest which is great if you’re into observing holiday decorations, etc.
East de Soto St
"Peaceful and scenic drive"
Scenic Highway is one of the most beautiful streets in Pensacola. It goes along the bay so driving along Scenic is a very beautiful and relaxing drive. You get the chance to see the amazing natural beauty of the bay and its surrounding and there are so many gorgeous houses that line Scenic Highway. I recommend just taking a drive for the heck of it!
North Blue Angel Pkwy
"Very quiet neighborhood"
Blue Angel Parkway is another of my favorite streets in Pensacola, but I could be biased since it’s where I live. Anyhow, it’s a very peaceful and laid back community with a lot of upscale housing and provides a very scenic drive. It is somewhat of a main road, but doesn’t give you too much trouble with traffic which is what I like best!
Pensacola Blvd
"Gateway to car dealerships"
Pensacola Blvd offers you the gateway to most of the big name car dealerships in town. It too can be a busy street for travelers during certain times of the day. Along with car dealerships Pensacola Blvd, referred to as Hwy 29 by the locals, offers a lot of fast food restaurants, little shops, and a somewhat scenic drive to Cantonment.
Mobile Hwy
"Noisy to quiet"
Mobile Highway is another busy street in Pensacola. Although not as busy as Davis Highway, it does give you traffic troubles at certain points during the day. Mobile, too, has a lot to offer-mostly little shops and fast food restaurants but further down you do get into a more rural community
North West St
"Gateway to all the main streets"
W St is very urban. There are very little breaks between different things to do or service shops or gas stations or something. W St is really just a way to get to a lot of other places and a lot of other things. This being said, W St also doesn’t get all that crowed with cars. It’s usually a smooth drive.
North Davis Hwy
"Better off finding an alternate route!"
Davis Highway literally sucks as far as traffic goes. It is busy at all times during the day and the worst part is that it goes the entire way through town. There is so much to do on Davis Highway, but with all the traffic it hardly seems worth it.
West Read St
"Quiet Historic Neighborhood"
Read St is in a very quiet and historic neighborhood. It’s filled with historic buildings and houses and it’s very low key. You can tell the community is very close and focuses on the well being of others. Festivals are held every year to promote the morale of everyone involved.
North Howard St
"Great Way to See Downtown"
Howard St provides an excellent opportunity to see downtown Baltimore. It’s a one-way street so there isn’t much traffic and the Central Light Rail line runs along the street for much of its route within the downtown area. Howard St also has a pretty unique arch style bridge which you can see from MD Route 25.
East Churchill St
"Low Traffic Street"
Although I’ve never lived here I’d have to agree that this is one of the less congested streets in Baltimore. I ended up using this street as a detour one day and was surprised at the low amount of traffic. I think what surprised me most is that it is so close to so many things and I figured its location would bring in a lot more traffic.
Russell St
"Jam Packed Mess"
Russell St is pretty jam packed. I mean that’s usually a given when you have a main street located in a big city that is used as the primary exit off the interstate. Now add this traffic with all the raving baseball and football fans headed to the Oriole Park and the Raven’s stadium at Camden Yards and you have a real mess!
East Pratt St
"Great Place to Visit"
Pratt St is Baltimore’s most heavily traveled downtown boulevard because of all it has to offer. It is crowed with shops and diners and hundreds of things to do. If you’re looking to be entertained, Pratt St is the place to be. From the ESPN Zone (definitely check this out!) to the Baltimore Aquarium, Pratt St has it all.
West Baltimore St
"Could sit in traffic..."
Baltimore St can be busy at different times year round. This is due mainly to it being the home of the 1st Mariner Arena. Because the arena holds concerts, orchestras, etc year round, you can never be sure when exactly you might run into heavy traffic. When I visited Baltimore for a concert two years ago I sat in traffic for a little while, but I’ve been told that it’s not that busy of a street on other days.
West Camden St
"Great Place for Sports Talk"
Camden St is filled with sports history. I remember when I was younger I went to an Orioles game with my grandfather. We got there pretty early because we wanted to miss the traffic so we had time to spare before the game. We ended up getting an old fashioned ballpark hot dog and talking sports with some other fans until the game.
Saint Paul St
"A Tourist Attraction"
Light St is a beautiful street filled with restaurants and tourist attractions. It’s also really close to the Inner Harbor and if you’re driving or walking along it you can see a perfect view of the harbor. If you’re into art I would recommend checking out the Light Street Gallery. It’s filled with amazing artwork.
Water St
"Mardi Gras Copy Cat?"
Water St reminds me of a less crowded Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans. You have a narrow street filled with party goers who are stumbling in and out of bars, live music, and underage drinkers trying to disguise their alcohol in plastic cups. There’s even that somewhat trashy feel for the place.
