"full of columbia students and locals"

If you live in the area, then you’ll mostly only go to the W 112th st for the post office and Book Culture. Book Culture is a great independent bookstore and the staff is really friendly and helpful. Tom’s Restaurant is also located on the corner of Broadway and W 112th st, which is the diner shown in Seinfeld. If you walk by, you’ll always see some tourists taking their pictures in front of it. The food isn’t that great but at least it’s greasy and open late. St. John the Divine Cathedral is located near W 112th st and Amsterdam and it’s a beautiful church and worth a visit.

"Homey, quiet and peaceful"

Bank Street College of Education is on 112th St. as is St. Johns, a sprawling church that is just gorgeous in it's own respect. Riverside Park offers a nice retreat into nature as does Central Park. Closer to the West end things are extremely quiet and maintains a mostly residential vibe, which is nice if you intend to call this place home.

"West 112th Street"

This area is a bit run down and is definitely not a place I would recommend for living options. The nearby streets capture most of what’s going on in this neighborhood, as this street is mainly residential and is not all that exciting. There are a few small business and things of that nature, but not much to write home about.

"Home of the world's largest cathedral, St. John the Divine"

The world's largest cathedral, St. John the Divine in Manhattan. The Cathedral is open Monday through Saturday from 7:00am-6:00pm and Sunday from 7:00am-8:00pm. If ever you need a peace of mind, this is the place to visit. Great place for meditation. Beautiful grounds and gardens and wonderful place for prayer. This special prayer place is located at 112th Street and Amsterdam Avenue

"From Church to Seinfeld"

On one side of the street, you can be in 'heaven', so to speak. St. John's cathedral is located here, which is great if you've never seen a cathedral before. Go down to the other end of the street, and take a quick visit to Tom's Restaurant, immortilized in the amazing show called Seinfeld. Of course this is a must-see for any fan! From church to comedy, a great experience.

"Quiet on One End, Lively on the Other"

On one end 112th Street has the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, the most beautiful Episcopal cathedral, worth a morning's visit just for the vastness and artwork of it. There are a lot of nice old brownstone type buildings as you go further west and at the corner of Broadway of course there is Tom's Restaurant, whose exterior was immortalized in Seinfeld. As with a lot of streets, it goes further to Riverside Park, which is one of my favorite city parks. This is a very dog friendly neighborhood filled with students. Casual, relaxed, lots of fun. Getting too expensive because of Columbia University, who have bought a lot of real estate in the area, but still enjoyable.
