"Long Stretch of Road With some Great Views"

The West Side Highway, also known officially as the Joe DiMaggio Highway, is a long section or part of Route 9A in NYC. It runs from West 72nd St along the Hudson River to the southern tip of Manhattan.

During the time in NYC you may hear traffic reporters refer to the entire length of road as the West Side Highway. When they state this they always make the mistake of including the roadway north of 72nd street. This roadway above 72nd St is properly known as the Henry Hudson Parkway.

If you do take a drive on the West Side Highway, you will get a great view of the Hudson River and well as the various ports. When the highway was reconstructed, a lot of the old materials were done away with, making way for new stuff. So the road, traffic lights, and even lamp posts are unique and give off the appearance of being in a London town.

As for living, it is strictly to drive on and nothing else. There is a sidewalk, but with the heavy traffic conditions, it is normally not safe to walk on.

"Nice ride- Great View"

The West Side Highway is how I get around Manhattan if I have decided to drive in. It's quick and convenient and is a really lovely ride. It runs on the far west side of Manhattan alongside the Hudson River. Chelsea Piers is a must stop for anyone visiting New York and the view is really beautiful at sunset. You can also check out the massive cruise ships docked along the way and if you get lucky you can watch one of the helicopter tours take off. Don't be taken back by the fact that the road has several different names. People call it many things, but the West Side Highway is probably easiest to remember.

"W side Highway"

W side Highway is a street in a fairly recently developed neighborhood in New York. This street used to be a very guiet an easy way to get to western New York but is becoming more and more heavily travelled. there are some beautiful condos that were recently constructed. And some luxury homes not too far away which help make this one of New York's fast growing upscale neighborhoods.

"Walk Along the Hudson"

Walking along the Hudson is a requisite for any warm New York visit. Though the view is only of Jersey, it's beautiful. The piers are gorgeous in the day. The Chelsea Piers are one of Manhattan's few places for outdoor and largescale indoor sports. Romantic walking and ideal conditions for jogging, biking or blading. Especially beautiful are the parks further south, Battery Park.
