"Nondescript brick apartment buildings, heavy traffic, Empire State Building views, lacks character"
If you look out to the west, you can see an unencumbered view of the Empire State building. There is a bodega at Dekalb and Ashland, and a number of brick apartment buildings. It is not one of the prettier streets in Fort Greene. It is very close to the express trains at Dekalb Avenue however.
Farther down Ashland to Lafayette you'll find the high-rise Forte condos, which are near the Crunch gym and a few blocks away from some great restaurants. Past Forte, there's a parking lot and then the famous "Clock Tower" building, which used to be a bank, but is now also a large condo building.
While this street may be full of luxury buildings, it lacks character, charm, and isn't very pretty or green.
