"School Happy Zone"

If you have kids, this is the street to live on. There are about two or three schools along the entire route of East 226th Street. Not only that, but the homes are pretty nicely built. There are some old buildings, and a little graffiti in places, but there is also a lot of greenery as well.

"East 226th Street"

This short street in the Bronx wasn’t really all that impressive. It was mainly residential and the residences weren’t all that great to look at. All in all, it was an average street on an average block. For more convenience, I suggest that you try something nearby. There always seemed to be people on the street and places to go. I wish there were more parks in the East Bronx, however.

So, again with the salons! I loved it. On the day I visited the street, there was a special on manicures and pedicures. Now, the ladies reading this might know how expensive those can be. On average in the city, a “mani/pedi” costs about 25-30 dollars. On East 226th, you can get it for 13 dollars! I went in, got a fresh coat, and wonderful service. This street was filled with small locally owned businesses, and as a fan of revamping poorer neighborhoods, the entrepreneurship was admirable. This street sets an example for anyone who wants to start a small business that it is possible... and lucrative. The nail shop was packed with people from every borough of New York City!
