NYC Cutbacks
I guess many of you have heard about the 11,000 jobs that will be cut by NYC within a few days. Some of those cuts will happen quickly. I am very concerned because many firehouses are going to be let go and closed down (20 to be exact). What would occur if there was a fire, say on 27th St., and the closest fire station was on 34th St. As polluted as the streets are in this city, the fire trucks would have a horrible time getting from their station to 27th St., quickly. By the time they would get here, the fire would be totally out of control.
What do the rest of you think about this plan. I mean 20 fire stations is a lot in the city, especially with all the high-rises around here. If you haven't seen the Towering Inferno, you need to. It will show exactly what happens when a fire occurs in a high-rise.
