"The quiet center Of West Brighton"
Being so close to Forest Ave, makes this whole area prime for those who are exhausted from driving. Equal distance to both Clove Lake and Sliver Lake Parks makes Oakland Ave the center of best parts of West Brighton. Oakland Ave, being a one way street, that ends at Henderson Ave, makes it less far less travelled than Bement Avenue, a two way street, one block over.
There are no less than 3 buses that go to the ferry within (1) block of here, and (2) express buses, yet none drive along Oakland.
Oakland Avenue form Forest to Bard Avenue (keep in mind Bard ave runs from north to south then bends east to west), has very well maintained homes, some are absolutely stunning. The lots are slightly smaller, and the homes were built just after WW2. A few cookie cutter, attached houses are here, but the vast majority of the homes keep the stellar charm of this part of Oakland Avenue. This area is called informally called "Sunset Hill", invented by the real estate industrial complex, it was designed to differ this part of West Brighton from the other parts having less than expected appeal.
- Small Town feel
- Great Americana pre-WW1 Architecture
