"Decent Area with Some Stores"
South St. has some good areas. There are stores along the street. There are also shops where you can buy goods. Not too far from the area is the seaport area. This place doesn't have much to desire if you like looking at old ships.
There is a huge mall opposite the ships where you can go in and shop around. There is also a "Bodies" exhibit there. The strip going to the area is a mixture of cobblestone and brick.
It isn't too bad and I would recommend taking kids as they would enjoy an ice cream cone.

"On South Street"
Not interested by this South Bronx street. I wasn’t very impressed. I didn’t think that it was nice to look at and thought that because the streets around it were relatively convenient, that it would also house the same benefits, but I was sadly mistaken. This may not be the place for the NYC culture you were searching for, but there’s definitely a good vibe here.

South St. in lower Manhattan which is home to the South Street Seaport is always a fun spot to bring the kids especially for a day of maritime and police museums and shopping an dinning.
The seaport dates back to the 1600's.
Take the kids to visit the old ships and they will feel as if they stepped back in time and are on Pirate ships.
