"University Village- North Tampa"

I just sort of landed in Tampa, meaning, I didn't know anyone here to advise me of the 'do's and don't's' of where to live. As fate would have it, I ended up in a rather shady area, University Village (also is known as Suitcase City due to the people being in never unpacking, lol...). Though the area is wonderful for eating out and having a close proximity to the USF, entertainment and shopping, this particular area is a den of unsavory characters...drug use and drug sales in particular. It has been told to me that there has been a marked improvement of the area, which I don't doubt, and the Sheriff cars drive by fairly often, it still would not have been my choice of locale, had I known in advance. Still searching for a better location to live, though I'm locked in for a year in my lease (at the time of this writing= 9 more months)...sigh.
  • Shopping, eateries, Busch Gardens, entertainment, public transportation, internet services, centrally located.
  • Not the best area to feel safe, no walking alone after 9 pm. Not the most updated area.
