East Marshall Ave
"The Art's District"
Phoenix/Scottsdale Art District is absolutely stunning. The grounds are always well-maintained and the people are crazy friendly. There are museums, theatres, parks and restaurants not to be missed here, and there is never a dull moment. If you can afford to live here, I would highly recommend it.
West Thunderbird Rd
"Residential and hot."
This area is mostly residential, but there are a few industrial businesses. For some reason, it gets really hot here. Much hotter than everywhere else I can remember being in Phoenix (and that is saying something). Other than the heat, it's an okay area to live, but nothing grandiose. Not much to see.
Superstition Fwy
"Welcome to Arizona"
This is the highway that takes you into Az and leads to Grand Avenue in Phoenix, then zips you out again to almost anywhere in Az you could want to go. Fantastic highway for a road trip as there is always stuff on the side of the road to see, do and eat.
West Agua Fria Fwy
"Lots of shopping"
Known mainly for the Deer Vally Towne Center, which is an upscale shopping area. Parking can be a problem here, so try to come on the off hours or during the week, and know that it can get pricey. There's a movie theatre, shopping, and eating like you would not believe.
I-- 17
"Oh the I-17..."
The major north/south artery of Phoenix. Traffic is usually not too bad, unless it's rush-hour and then I would try some side streets. When you get out of the city, it's actually an incredibly beautiful drive, especially around sunset. I recommend doing it at least once while you're there.
East Jefferson St
"Sports, sports, sports..."
This area is mostly residential, with a few sports bars and the America West Arena to boast. Not my scene, but if your a guy, with lots of guy-like testosterone, this might be just the place for you. I can say it's quite peaceful at night, during the off season.
West Washington St
"Ah, the nightlife..."
This is where the Dodge Theatre is, and the Orpheum is only a block down, which means lots of young 20 somethings roaming the streets at night after the concerts. But not to worry, the police station is just a few blocks down, and they're never that rowdy. Plenty of day-time retail therapy as well.
North 12th St

"A good place to live."
Home to the famous (and one of many) Streets of New York, I think this is actually technically in Scottsdale. Nevertheless, a good place to live. Really safe, with lots of things to do and see. The people of 12th are always friendly and there is little to no crime.
North Rainbow Blvd
"Not much to boast"
This street isn't much to be honest. It's what I would call a poor man's Vegas Blvd. There are some decent cheap hotels and restaurants, if you're on a budget while visiting, but it's not much to look at or very energetic. I recommend staying elsewhere if you can find the funds.
West Lake Mead Blvd
"Awesome place to eat"
If you like food, this is the Vegas street for you. Absolutely delicious dining occurs on W. Lake Mead Blvd, along with a fantastic night life. Some areas can get a bit sketchy, but they're easy to spot if you just keep your wits about you. Always a good time can be had here.
Vegas Plaza Dr
"Small street in a small city"
This is basically just apartments and small businesses, but it's charm is that it's within walking distance of some pretty amazing shopping and sight-seeing. I just happened to get lost and wind up walking down this Dr. It was lovely, but I was happy to get back to my hotels and storefronts.
Access West Lake Mead
"What Happens in Vegas..."
This is pretty much the road the gangsters use when they want to dump the bodies. It's the one road you can take to access Lake Mead, which isn't really worth seeing in my opinion. But if you want to get away from the light pollution, gambling, and all human interaction, this is the place to be.
West Tropicana Ave
"A ritzy neighborhood"
This is where all of the rich gamblers go to buy property when they've won big. It's pretty close to the main strips of Vegas, but much quieter and doesn't attract much of a party crowd, as there's not much partying to be done here. Lots of storage facilities and homes.
East Sahara Ave
"Strip to residential"
This street goes from being residential to a strip so quickly it will give you whiplash. If you find yourself on E. Sahara and you're surrounded by apartment buildings, just drive five minutes. It doesn't have much in the way of your typical gambling places, but it does have plenty to eat.
North Highland Ave
"H and H"
Quite frankly, Hollywood and Highland is the best part of Highland Ave., but it can be argued that because it runs through Hollywood that Highland has it's own value. Lots of trash and scary people, but lots to do and see, as well. I guess it depends on how much it's worth to you.
Ocean Ave
"A true gem"
Ocean Ave is one of my most favorite places in Santa Monica. The traffic is horrific and it can take you hours to find a parking spot, but the sushi and views are amazing, and the people ain't half bad either. I highly recommend a visit on your next trip to Santa Monica.
North Gower St
"A Hollywood Staple"
The best part of Gower to me is the Gower Entrance at Paramount Studios. Never the less, it has it's own awesome stuff to offer. Like...uh...the Astro Burger across the street from the Gower Entrance. I jest, there is plenty to see and do on Gower, just don't get lost down one of the side streets.
Ventura Fwy
"Awful driving conditions"
This highway is backed up about 40% of the time. The nice thing is that you can take side roads to get almost anywhere you need to be. If it's between the hours of 4-7 pm, avoid the 101 at all costs, or bring a book on tape with you, because you are going to be there a while.
Griffith Park Dr
"A windey bit of road."
Griffith Park is a pretty nice place, and this road is very scenic (for LA). It can be dangerous, as it's extremely windey and you are forced to pay close attention to what you're doing if you don't want to hit an oncoming vehicle or fall off the road, but other than that it's a great place to spend the day.
West Silver Lake Dr
"Lovely area for being outdoors."
Right next to the Reservoir, this place is the perfect getaway from hectic Los Angeles life. I like to come here on my days off and read a book or listen to music. It's a very peaceful atmosphere. Lots of wildlife (I saw a baby skunk crossing the road once). Good surrounding coffee, too.
Riverside Dr
"Silver Lake standard"
Tons of tasty places to get a cup of coffee here, and always attractive young people cruising the streets. A safe place to walk around at night, with quite the nightlife as far as bars. More business than residential, but no less charming. You'll never be hurting for food on W Riverside.
Silver Ridge Ave

"Neighborhood of eclectics"
The apartment buildings are build right into the hill on this beautiful, little street. The roads and narrow and windy and make you feel like your in the mountains, not Los Angeles. The nicest people you'll ever meet and well-kept homes and gardens. The occasional homeless do dig through the trash at night, though.
North Doheny Dr
"On the cusp of Beverly Hills and West Hollywood"
This is a widely residential area, with modest homes ranging in the millions. Don't park on the neighborhood streets, because chances are you need a pass. Lots to see and do within walking distance, but don't even bother on Halloween, or you'll spend hours just trying to get to the highway.

"Historic Stair Street"
This is a historic stair street, build in the 1920's. The area is beautiful, but if you want to get to the top, make sure you came prepared to clime 200+ stairs. All residential, this "street" can only be accessed by foot, and can't even be seen from the road. The people are very friendly (and mostly hippies).
North Speer Blvd
"Another major city street."
Speer is another street I can't believe no one has reviewed. Used to be right next to Elitches (which is now Six Flags). Really busy, lots of clubs up and down. Speer can be kind of tricky to drive because it becomes a one-way in some areas, so make sure to read the signs as you go.
East 23rd Ave
"Wonderful street to visit"
I can't believe no one have reviews this yet! I love this street. It runs right through the Denver City Park, and right next to the zoo. I used to come here all the time as a kid in the stroller, being pushed around by my parents. Many a fond childhood memory was made on this street (but, like so many places, don't get caught there at night).
Bassett St
"Great little place to be."
Right next to the river and park, this little street is usually filled with hip, young 20 somethings. Lots of people walk through here on their way to 16th Street Mall or Platte Street. The architecture is more modern then most places in Denver, uses a lot of what looks like stainless steel. Always well maintained.

"Major artrey of Denver"
I-25 is what people take to get anywhere in Denver, but the traffic can be terrible at rush hour and people drive like maniacs. You have to be on the lookout for those 16 year-olds who just got their licence and think it's cool to weave in and out of traffic at 90 mph.
