I don't read the Village Voice so I am not sure about the article. Someone told me it was written by amateurs. I do not know that to be a true hard fact, but I do know when I read it 5 years ago, it printed mainly trash. Has it changed over the years? Is it better now? I don't have time to read it considering my hectic schedule.

@hhusted Someone told you the Voice was written by amateurs, or that the article in question was written by amateurs? You are always citing mysterious sources....
@BroadwayBK Yes, that certainly is an adorable posting.

@Neversleeps: I read a blog online sometime ago, maybe a year or two ago, can't recall the time, and the guy was critiquing newspapers in Manhattan. I briefly read it, but from what I remember, he gave the Village Voice a thumbs down. If I can find it again, I'll pass it on.

@Everybody: I talked to a friend of mine, who is a freelance journalist. He sells a number of stories to the Village Voice. I told him about the article BroadwayBK had posted. He laughed about it and said the writer, Jen Doll, is a freelance writer, who writes for "Running Scared" and a number of online publications in other states. Most of the reasons she wrote that article was to see what kind of responses she would get and for laughs. She definitely got a lot of responses.

@hhusted well the responses on this forum have definitely been positive. I wouldn't laugh at New York City , I am thankful I live there. Before we moved to Hong Kong, my husband had other offers from companies in Colorado and Charlotte North Carolina. He was up for the move but I have no qualms in admitting that I fought him tooth and nail and said that I would stay back in NYC while he could move .. NYC is a world city with a diverse population that's the kind of city I am most comfortable in I would be a fish out of water elsewhere.

@Uptowngirl: I love Colorado and North Carolina. I have friends there. But you know what, you are only comfortable in an environment in which you came from or grew up in. For you, NYC is more comfortable for you because of the life you came from in India. So it suits you more. This is why some people love it and some hate it.

Did you guys read the excellent NY Times article on New York's phenomenal culture this week. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/08/opinion/08judt.html. I found it very moving and insightful.
