NYPD to Increase Night Patrols

Due to an increase in street killings this year, and recently, the NYPD will step up patrols in 23 precincts.

You can read more about what they will do by going to this website:

http://www.ny1.com/content/top_stories/121516/nypd-to-increase-patrolling-officers-during-overnight-hours

Although the actual precincts were not mentioned, it would be interesting to know the areas that have the highest crime rate, in particular shootings.

@ajadedidealist Good map. I'm surprised there's so much crime in Midtown and the Lower East Side.

Perhaps people mugging/targeting businessmen? Midtown at night in some areas can be quite quiet, so I imagine that has something to do with it. People targeting wealthy business-types coming home late for work. Or bankers' bar fights....

@Ajadedidealist: Good questions. Makes you stop and think doesn't it. Why would people be targeted in these area and not much elsewhere?

@DBlack I'm not - the lower part of the LES isn't exactly the high life.
