Mind elaborating? I certainly agree with some of those but not necessarily all. Astor Place is a great base from which to explore the East Village, even if it has not one but TWO Starbuckses, which kind of goes against the whole artsy ethos of the Village. I love Madison Avenue in the 90's - Carnegie Hill is so charming and full of boutiques/cafes/etc. I have a bizarre love for 86th and Lex/3rd/2nd - as crowded/unpleasant as it is, I find it's a great escape from the rest of the UES. And I love walking along Central Park South from the Plaza to the new Time Warner building - going from one to the other is like traveling forward in time from the turn of the 19th century to what is definitely the new millennium!

Thanks for the list. I appreciate it. Unfortunately, I really don't have a favorite street in NYC, although I do agree that the Times Square area is a really cool place to be with all the flash, glitter, and digital billboards and TV.

Yeah, it's your list Mayeg, but is Astor Place quite so wonderful? It's just barely a street, and even if you were to count the square, there's so much more marvelous ones, like Union Square. No?

My personal favorite happens to be East End Avenue-quiet, tree lined and it borders the East River. I am a sucker for water views though I agree with Uraniumfish I love the ambiance at Union Square too.

Been trying to come up with ONE street that would be on the top of my list, but I have a hard time choosing...
