What's going on with the F train?
Has anyone noticed how the F train is pretty much debilitated? What's going on? What have they done to it?

@JenMac I think a developer who lives in the city has made a twitter feed for every subway line so that people are always in the know about closures and delays. Quite clever don't you think?

Ha! That's great... They also have one for the dreaded G: http://twitter.com/nyc_g_trains
I just searched for any messages directed @ the G, expecting to find a bunch of complaints, but didn't turn up much. Obviously not too many people are following these MTA Twitter feeds.

A whopping 500 people follow the G train tweets, and another whopping 1000 follow the F train. Not exactly a lot of public interest or participation, I would say.

@DBlack would you honestly expect a subway line to have a twitter feed?I just found the F train twitter account by chance and presume its 1000 followers did the same..

@uptowngirl I'm not sure I would expect it, but if it really were known across the board as an excellent source of up to date info on what's going on with the various trains, then you might think a lot of people would want to follow the twitter feeds of the trains they use regularly. Kind of like listening to the traffic report before driving to work.

@Everybody: Do you remember what happened to Twitter's servers when Bill Gates announced his tweeter ID. The servers crashed within an hour, and were down for nearly half a day. Maybe MTA thinks they will be inundated with many tweets and don't want to risk it. Then again, who really knows for sure.

@DBlack Is that sarcasm?
@everyone I actually am really getting a kick out of the subway Twitter feeds. I wonder what the G train is up to right now... Maybe instead of all the "If you see somethings" they should be advertising their respective Twitter accounts.
@hhusted It's not like they keep their Twitter accounts on their own server, so I doubt they would be too worried about such a problem on a personal level. Twitter gets over capacity all the time, too, in case you were wondering, and goes "down" a lot.

@ajadedidealist Better get on that boat soon, before new micro blogging sites take over the universe!
@Uraniumfish I actually remember exactly what I was doing when Michael Jackson died... what a waste of brain cells.

I have a Twitter account that I never use.... well, not very often anyway. I like reading updates from blogs and newspapers on it; they pop up on my Twitter app whilst I am on my laptop doing whatever. It's a good way to be in-the-know almost instantly.
But as far as personal updates from people I know, I find them kind of, well, boring. I mean, do you have to take pictures of what you are eating whenever you eat out? Do I really need to know that you are running errands? I don't understand why people think their every little movement is interesting to anyone. It isn't.
Don't get me wrong, some people are clever Twitter updaters. But it seems most aren't - most are just clogging up the internet with really, really unnecessary information.

What's that new micro blogging site that is sort of like Twitter meets Yelp, and allows patrons of places to be ambassadors of places they frequent? Anyone know what I'm taking about? Someone was telling me about it at a bar one night, but I can't completely recall the details...

@BroadwayBK P-Diddy is one of the people who ended up in my Twitter follow list by default, and all that guy ever tweets is: "Let's go!" Maybe Twitter is a great way for celebrities on coke to run off some of that excess energy? It's healthier than, say, punching a wall.

@DBlack or for celebrities to endlessly promote themselves/their brand. I have a feeling that Diddy or whatever he's called today is probably an entertaining micro blogger, by then again I also find reality television entertaining.

@JenMac I had to quit following a lot of acquaintances on Twitter because their internet lives ("I'm doing the dishes!" "I'm at this bar!" "I'm drunk!") bored me to distraction. I got to the point where I didn't even care if they took my disinterest in their Twitter feeds personally, they had to go.

I've written how-to books for clients regarding Twitter and how to use it. When you get into using the social media site, you will find how many people you can get connected to. I found a producer for my script by going through Twitter.

@DBlack Which heroes are those? I did an internship at a magazine where I frequently had to transcribe interviews with famous musicians, and I was pretty depressed to find out how unimpressive most of them were when it came to intelligence. And these were indie musicians, not pop creations.

I feel like I did hear about that somewhere along the line. I just wonder how they would pull it off for network tv considering most of what he says is pretty offensive -- hilarious, but not exactly bible-belt friendly.

@Ajadedidealist; TV refused to allow the show to go on because they claim the show had a curse word in it. So the producers had to come up with a way to keep the title from being hurtful or insulting to others. So they decided to use a bunch of funny looking characters in the title.

@BroadwayBK That's probably the best way to make use of the phenom. Just because that guy can quote his dad doesn't mean he can write for a sitcom.

The TV show sounds really lame, I have to say. Seems like something that's been done a million times before. Cranky old father who lives with his adult son? See: Sanford and Son.

But William Shatner! He was fantastic as Denny Crane on Boston Legal... how could you not love him? Clearly Alan Shore should be part of the show too...really I just want more Boston Legal. That was a weird, weird show
