Brownstoner, the renovation blog

Boy, I'm really getting into the apartment reno mood, now that spring is coming. I really liked these blog posts about people's adventures in renovating:

I love the Brownstoner! The story of the purple that wouldn't go away is so good!

@ajadedidealist Ha! I had similar experiences when my parents were renovating. My mom actually made my dad paint the living room three times before they had the right shade of eggshell on their hands.

@Uraniumfish Exactly how much renovation can a renter do, I wonder?

@NeverSleeps I think renters can't do too much, and it seems a lot of those posts are from the owners of the various brownstones.

One of the posts mentioned that Ditmars Park is a new ht place fro location scouts because of the nice architectural details. Is that true?

Also found this, yet another local blog:

Thanks for the link, @uraniumfish! I didn't know Sophie's Choice was filmed in Flatbush. You learn something new every day!

@DBlack Just as I suspected.

@Everyone Why are so many bloggers vegan? Doesn't it seem like there are more vegans/vegetarians in NYC than anywhere else? I know during my adventures on Craig's list it seemed like every other ad was looking for a vegan roommate to fit into their strictly vegan household.

@NeverSleeps Good point! Judging by the percentage of blogs, you would think vegans rule NYC!

I think the vegan lifestyle is just fine, but why do they all have to congregate here? And do they have to hog all the awesome apartments and demand vegan roommates? Really?
