Do we care about the Americas Cup?

Do we care about how the super-wealthy spend their money? Do we care that people care about the Americas Cup enough to do battle over it in Court?

Do we care that private citizens spend in the double-digit millions preparing for, and competing for this prize? Do we care what double-digit millions can buy in terms of vaccinations for the poor, or basic food and shelter for people who are out of work in the recession?

Okay, I'll stop ranting now. Some people just have no perspective.

Ugh - excess. Really turns me off, seeing cases like this. It reminds me of all the furore over expenses scandals among MPs in England - some guy used taxpayer money to build a MOAT around his house. A MOAT! Some people really do get money- and power-mad..
