Fashion's Night Out and New York Fashion Week
Living in NYC you can't really ignore Fashion Week which takes place twice a year and is usually held at Bryant Park. However this time around fashion week has moved to its new home at Lincoln Center. Have any of you ever had a chance to take in a show at Fashion Week? I have always wanted to go but have never managed to snag an invite even though I had a cousin who used f to work as a pattern maker for the NYC based designer Nanette Lepore.
Fashion's Night Out is the shopping event of Fashion Week when several stores stay open late and offers shopping events and bargains. I think the event was conceived to rev up shopping a slow economy but I have not had to chance to check it out yet. Have any of you?

I honestly can't gel with the fashion crowd. I have some close friends who do and go to things like this, but I'd rather just check out the latest fashions via my internet connection!

I agree, I like the photos I can find online but would be bored to distraction at the live events and can't suffer the kinds of people who would go to those things.

I saw that Fashion's Night Out is being promoted through Gossip Girl (ps: I get to watch the season opener soon! So excited!) but it's really not my thing. I don't like the whole fashion scene. I like my thrift shop finds and classic retro style just fine, thanks!

My experience of fashion events is that the people in attendance literally can't make a full, coherent sentence, either because they're too stupid, or they're high, or a combination.

I actually tried to watch Gossip Girl - and I found it kind of funny how they were obviously striving for a witty script. It's definitely a smarter show than, say, 90210 was, but I didn't make it further than 15 minutes.

Fair enough, @neversleeps. I'm an addict. I can't stand "trashy" literature, but somehow I'm a huge TV junkie, especially when it comes to the oh-so-poignant Chuck-Blair neverending on-again-off-again saga (oh, how it reminds me of my own teenage years!) I try to pretend I'm too cool for all that, but I'm really, really not. I love my shows!

@ajadedidealist it's ok, we all have our own faves where trashy TV is concerned for instance BroadwayBK and I watch Keeping up with the Kardashians you can't get more trashy than that.

@ajadedidealist Yeah, it's okay - trash tv is so NOW. It seems like most people have at least one guilty pleasure on the tube, and no one even seems to feel bad about watching Jersey Shore. Not that they shouldn't.

@NeverSleeps I haven't really watched one episode of Jersey Shore but that Snooki seems to be everywhere

@uptowngirl True, she is the most recognizable of the bunch with her freaky idea of "fashion"

@NeverSleeps Yeah, okay, he's also fashion-challenged. However, as far as I can see, he just spends a lot of time half-clothed, which isn't quite fashion.

I've never seen Jersey Shore, but I read an article about Snookie that seemed so mean-spirited in tone that I felt sorry for the poor girl! She seems like a decent, immature girl in over her head, although she seems to have admirable confidence.

I love it when it gets to "Don't you know who I am." It can only get good from there...

Apparently Miss Snooki is getting her own private spin-off. So, yes, it can only get better.

Did you guys see the latest South Park? There's a pretty awful parody of Snooki...

@uptowngirl It looks like the most boring spin-off in the history of spin-offs. MTV keeps running all these promos for it, but they're basically giving up the whole show in the commercials.

What's the spinoff called, guys? Possibly a nicely silly pun?
