@NeverSleeps Really? Because you feel that nostalgic about the good olde vanishing New York, or because he seems to have a corner of creepy curiosities there?

@Uraniumfish Because it tends to dwell on the negative a lot... NYC is crumbling, the landscape is changing for the worse blah blah blah. Which may all be true but imagine updating your blog in such a way day after day...

@NeverSleeps I quite enjoyed the blog sure it documents parts of old New York that are vanishing but does talk of new openings as well like the Marc Jacobs bookshop due to open soon in the West Village.

@uptowngirl Do you mean the Marc Jacobs store that is replacing the bookshop on Bleeker? Yeah...depressing.

What a sweet, yet utterly sad, bog. I hope the things that make NYC great and special don't completely vanish into the mire of consumerism, capitalism, and fast food chains. I love how unique New York City is!

Yeah, the blog was a little sad for me too. It seems like I'm just reading about stuff I'll never see instead of cool stuff I can still experience.

I have this aunt who's obsessed with pointing a camera in your face every time she sees you, and she says it's because "I want to have memories for when I'm old." Yeah, that guy's blog is a little sad, kinda like my aunt.

Have any of you guys visited the Tenement Museum on the Lower East Side? It's definitely a place to go to see the "vanished" New York City.

@JenMac That's exactly what I mean.

@ajadedidealist That is a good one... Even if Lower East Side apts are still about the same size. You just have to imagine about 20 living in one.

I know I've mentioned it in a previous post, but the first time I went to the Tenement Museum, my first thought was "huh, I kinda expecting these apartments to be smaller. . . most of my friends live in smaller apartments than these."
