Summer spa services
Summer is sandal season when all those perpetually hidden body parts are usually on full display. I tend to do waxing and manicure/pedicures more frequently in the summers and I know we have discussed massages and the like before but has anybody discovered any new salons or do any salons have special promotions on for these 'essential' spa services for the summer?

I would like to know as well - especially in the leg waxing department! I always spend upwards of $100 for whole leg and bikini waxes. This seems like the going rate but I would love to find a place that was less expensive.

@BroadwayBK I have been going to York Nails on 85th Street and York avenue for years but I think they are soon going to shut shop because of the economy. They had really reasonable prices $30 for a mani-pedi and $33 for a Brazilian..I do hope I can find a good enough replacement. The other places in the neighborhood are so expensive and the costs really add up when you indulge in these treatments often..

There's a nail place on Graham and Metropolitan in Willy that is offering a mani / pedi for just 18 bucks!

@uptowngirl That is a pretty good price for a Brazilian! I always worry about the quality of wax jobs because I have irritatingly sensitive skin. I'm assuming they do a good enough job as far as skin care is concerned?

I tend to head to Slope Suds for all of my waxing needs. It is not cheap by any means, but they do a good job and I can walk there from home. I also hear J Sisters International do a fabulous job with waxes, but it's not something I can personally attest to.

I've never had a wax; my skin is WAY too sensitive. Then again, I'm lucky to have really fine blonde hair on my legs, which means I only have to shave there every few months or so.

I just realized what a number walking around in summer sandals is doing on my feet... They need some TLC pretty soon.

@NeverSleeps precisely! wearing sandals in NYC is hard on your feet..and at least I seem to need a pedicure every week! I guess it would help if I slathered on shea butter and wore socks to bed but I always seem to nix the idea at bedtime thanks to the heat..
