@BroadwayBK: I read somewhere that MTA buses have the right of way no matter where they are in traffic. So if you are in the bus lane, and you are stopped, that's on you, as you are not supposed to be in that lane anyway, unless the cop directs you to that lane. On the other hand, if there is no bus lane and the bus does stop and you are behind it, you have the choice to go around the bus the minute it stops, or wait till it pulls off.
If you drive down a busy avenue or street like 34th, you may just find that cars won't wait for the bus. Once the bus stops, they go around it.
