"Really residential and pretty uneventful"

Washington Street is as far west as you can go without being on the Westside Highway. It starts at the Meatpacking and runs south. It's not a particularly trafficky street so it's an easy street to get accustomed to NY biking. And, there are parts of it that are quite pretty. There are also some really great apartments on this street with fantastic views of the Hudson.
Washington and 14th marks a bunch of clothing boutiques that now make up the majority of business in the Meatpacking District. There's only one actual meat store that remains on this block. But, this area is still kind of as ugly as it was when it was only Butchers. It just has a lot of trendy stores, restaurants and Europeans. Hogs and Heifers is a bar right at the end of the block that I find abominable. It is rowdy and there are bras hung from the ceilings; but, if you are in a frat, this is the place for you.
Between Little west 12th and 13th is the block of Washington that actual is still all meat shops. Oh, except for the "luxury" bar and restaurant called the Highline that is completely surrounded by dead animal carcass stores. I find that incredibly amusing. The next block south is an even split of high end boutiques and meat shops. Again, I think this is hilarious. No matter how trendy this area tries to get, it still is the butcher neighborhood.
The area around Bethune and Jane on Washington is where all the crazy loft apartments that I previously mentioned are. These residences are definitely not for the middle class; nor are they for people who like old timey homes. They're very modern and high tech sort of homes. But, they're really cool. There are two restaurants in this area that are great for very different reasons. Barbuto is a beautiful open space with a kitchen you can see into. It has great food but sort of a pompous, banker crowd. Tortilla Flats (across the street) has terrible food and it's quite rowdy but it's really fun and they always have activities like Trivia on Sunday nights.
The Highline starts around here. It used to be an above-ground train that is now a walking area with a view. It's pretty cool. You get to see the west side of the city from a different perspective.
The corner of Bank and Washington is a bar called Automatic Slims. I really like this bar. It's mellow and not a lot of people seem to remember it's there. There's a seafood place a few blocks down called Bongo that is apparently great and has Oyster Happy Hour. I live right and have yet to go, but I really to. It's been well reviewed so if you like oysters . . .
I like Washington street. There's never any traffic so I always walk on it if I can at all help it. It's much more peaceful than West or Hudson.
Pros
  • Great for jogging
  • View of Hudson
Cons
  • Fast traffic
  • Remote

"On Washington Street"

A variety of businesses line this street, though there isn’t much in the way of “a lot of fun.” This is what I refer to as a residentially convenient street, with various goods and services being offered to the people who live in the neighborhood, but to an outsider, it’s not worth the trek. These things can be found in your neighborhood. Fortunately, everything is compact. In New York City, you’re wise to know that food runs on the avenues, not on the streets, so for lunch, you should try a nearby street

"Enchanting street - New York"

It runs north-south in Manhattan. Washington street was named in honor of George Washington, the first president of USA . The population here in in less abundance in turn helping the street with minimum traffic and avoiding noise pollution across the street. From the Washington street you get a view of New Yorks prison, the New gate State Prison. It is said to be the first prison in New York city. Peace and calm are the key features of Washington street.

Washington street was named in honor of the first president of USA, George Washington. It runs north-south in Manhattan. It crosses the Houston street in east-west. There is no much traffic on this street as public transportation is scarce. From the Washington street you get a view of New Yorks first prison, the New gate State Prison. "Washington - A very good street."

Washington is a very good place, just like it's assumed namesake (the father of our country) was a very good man. It doesn't seem like its as easy to get around here, as is most of New York. I guess there are not as many public transits, but it still is an exciting places. There are plenty of good places to eat and socialize, maybe because this is consider the meat-packing district. A nice place to visit or "meat" up with friends.
