How to live in New York City

The Thought Catalog sums up New York City with an article titled- How to Live in New York City

http://thoughtcatalog.com/2010/how-to-live-in-new-york-city/

A pretty accurate read though I am not too sure about the crying in public bit...oops yes now I do remember sobbing my eyes out somewhere in the east 70s and not caring I was because it was NYC and I was anonymous after all ..have any of you had a similar experience?

I have yet to cry in public. I am a sensitive person at times, but won't cry in public unless I have reason to.

That dude lost me when he confessed his love for Max Fish.

I've seen a lot of random people crying in public, usually on the phone having a tearful conversation. They're definitely acting like no one else is around.

@BroadwayBK Max Fish is not so bad, is it?

I hate that place. Why is it so bright? Granted I haven't been there in years, so maybe it's no longer overrun by frat boy types.

Also, isn't it closing? I thought they couldn't pay their rent or something....

@BroadwayBK: Considering many stores are closing their doors in NYC, I wouldn't be surprised if they were next.

I cry in NYC taxi-cabs a lot. In fact, I've had really personal conversations in NYC taxi-cabs and not really registered the fact that the driver could hear. Gosh, the stories cabbies must be able to tell!

@BroadwayBK Yeah, Max Fish closing. I can't say I've ever found it all that charming, it was a bit too pukey for me. But it always served as an easy reference point when I wanted to meet people in the LES - we would just meet up at MF. I agree though that I'm not going to cry once they're gone or anything.

@ajadeidealist I'm sure they mostly wish they couldn't hear your private talk. Whenever I hear someone having a conversation on the phone in public with way way TMI, I wish I could find the off button.

@uptowngirl Well, that's good I guess, even if it's not my favorite spot at all. They have been there a lot longer than the neighborhood's current opulence.

The comments on that article were so vicious, I felt sorry for the writer. I actually tended to agree with a lot of what was said. . . however romanticized it was.

@JenMac: People are going to criticize anything they don't like. This is because they don't have a life and are jealous when others are doing well and they aren't.

I don't know that that's the only reason. Some people are doing really well and are still nasty.
