rock climbing

anybody know a good place to climb or practice climbing in the city? how expensive is it and any places that will offer some training?

I work out with one of the guys who runs Brooklyn Boulders. Looks like $20 will get you an all day pass, and it gets cheaper if you buy several session packages. I've been meaning to try them out myself but haven't made it there yet. The guys who founded it built the entire place themselves and the one I know personally is a great guy.

I saw a guy do rock climbing once. It seems very hard to do. It must take a lot of energy, muscle use, and coordination to do it.

There's also a climbing wall on Broadway and 60th St or so - this very random wall in the middle of a building lobby...

@Everyone: Would you consider rock climbing to be a popular sport or hobby in NYC, or just something to engage in when someone feels like it. The reason I am asking this is because a few of my male friends don't mention it.
